While serving in Buenos Aires in 1832, he fell mortally ill with a “visceral inflammation” and was buried there. His body was later exhumed and reburied alongside that of his wife, Ann Perry, in New London, Connecticut. In this miniature, Rodgers’s stiff stock, high collar, and elaborately tied cravat suggest he is dressed for a formal military event. The portrait of Ann is also in this collection.”

Voor het Rijksmuseum ontwerp hij dit kruis van gras. Door het ontwerp te maken, besliste hit welke delen worden gemaaid of welke just mogen doorgroeien: het is onderdeel van de vele projecten van Richard Long met een relatie tot de bodem.

Crosses often mark a place or an opportunity to come to a stop. This motif frequently appears in Richard Long's oeuvre, for instance in sculptures made of flint or slate. Especially for the Rijksmuseum, he designed this cross composed of grass, and so, he decided which sections would be mowed and which would be allowed to grow. It is part of Richard Long's many land related projects.

As well as inviting all the locals to share their #memories, I also asked some of my rock star friends to get involved. Here’s where Steve Harley from Cockney Rebel & singer/songwriter Alejandro Escovedo were in ’72…

So, where were you?

A horizontal piece of A3 paper features a snazzy purple border & the heading Where Were You In '72? in trippy green & purple lettering. Inside the border, Steve Harley wrote: "I was in London, forming the band - Cockney Rebel ... and dreaming, always dreaming! Still dreaming in 2010." He signed it & dated it 30/5/10.

On a questionnaire with the same border as previously, Alejandro Escovedo wrote: "Hazy marijuana summer days in Huntington Beach, Ca. Surfing, girls and rock n roll. Mott the Hoople had released "All the Young Dudes," Bowie released "Ziggy Stardust," Lou Reed released "Transformer." My world was about to make a great change & the greatest rock & roll album of all time "Exile on Main St." changed my life forever. I soon moved to Hollywood and soon after formed my first band - all else is quite hazy." He signed it & wrote "Love to all."

The motto: “May the ocean God be auspicious unto us.”

Letter from Shri Rajagopalachari suggesting the motto for the Indian Navy in Rajaji’s own hand.

It was decided to request Shri C Rajagopalachari, Ex-Governor General of India, to suggest a motto. A letter was addressed to him by the Commander-In-Chief of the Indian Nave, Admiral Sir Mark Pizey, enumerating the salient considerations in the selecting a motto: That of alphabets, that is should refer to the sea or seafaring, that it should preferably, be associated with Indian history or #mythology.

Shri Rajagopalachari replied with great promptitude offering a motto which fulfilled all the stipulation ideally. It was immediately adopted.

This is Prasasti Muarakaman IV from early 5th century AD, one of several prasasti from Kutai Martapura kingdom. The kingdom was located in what is today's East Kalimantan (Indonesian part of Borneo).

Photos taken March 2023 in Museum Nasional, Jakarta.

According to Indonesian Wikipedia article https://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prasasti_Yupa#Muarakaman_IV_(D.2d) the text on this one is too worn out to read.

However the English Wikipedia article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Y%C5%ABpa#Text have the text deciphered and translated to English. It basically says that this monument is a remembrance of when King Mulavarman given alms of 20000 cows to Brahmins.

This is Prasasti Muarakaman IV

It is a stone stela brown-gray in color. The top half of the stela has much faded inscription. Near the end of the inscription the symbols looks more like dotted indentations. The bottom half of the stela has no inscription. The stela itself is not completely straight, and is a bit larger at the top.

The base of the stela is affixed to the floor of the museum. Other museum exhibits can be seen in the background.

This is the metal plate by the museum about the prasasti.

Vandaag vogelepik gedaan op de site van museumpas en zo naar FelixArt te Drogenbos gegaan. Het museum over Felix De Boeck.
Ik kende de man niet, maar na bezoek van het museum (waar ook zijn huis staat) ben ik een fan. Het contrast tussen de keuterboer en de schilder van abstracte schilderijen was mooi om te zien.
De tentoonstelling met de collectie van Neirynck was ook de moeite.
Herl het museum is een aanrader.

Finally made it to DIA Beacon! What a contrast from MOMA- spacious and artist centric, the writing cards gave many of the minimalist and conceptual pieces more meaning. What a collection! Sure the Dan Flavin work was neat- but to walk through a career spanning Chamberlain junkyard, a neighborhood of Serra's and a loft of Bourgeois was amazing! The tours are unique and recommended. I loved the ritualistic and gestural sculptures of Senga Nengudi!

Typical Flavin shot. They are hot cathode fluorescent lamps, but in neon industry those phosphors would be e10 (standard) green, Sparkling Blue (rare earth blue) novial gold and n.11 pink. That was my favorite of the current Flavins on view

Some of the super gestural and neat vinyl and colored liquid Senga Nengudi pieces. I am sure they are lovely to maintain with the evaporation and potential mould. I love her thoughts on ritual, improvisation and friendship in art

This is Prasasti Tapan (1129 & 1134 AD) . It is a rectangular stone stela with inscriptions in "Quadratic Kadiri Style".

The inscriptions are large and the pits carved deeper into the stone.

The metal plate by the museum doesn't explain what is the inscription all about.
