One day, one day...
... there'll be a DAW with a GUI that includes people with impaired eyesight like me.
But that is no current DAW.
(Background: I am not partially blind but I have bad enough eyes that I qualify for NHS vouchers.)
Turns out the PO-20 accepts a 3.3V signal for sync. Recording and jamming with 1 hand was probably more difficult than making this work.
Next step: Audio sync and theming support.

So far I’ve been recording and producing my own music and now I’m working with a friend to mix and produce their music.
The style is similar but it’s so different working with others when you don’t have complete creative control.

They ingest art in a distinctly inhuman way--can you recall every pixel of the images you are referencing? Do you have any hope of replicating their details in seconds after a mere glance? Given the same prompt and seed number, you can generate the exact same image as someone else, ...you can even reverse engineer the prompt if you have the image and seed number. Their "learning," unlike yours, is frozen in a particular state and unable to evolve.
Humans are never trapped in such a state. We are always advancing our world view and filtering through lenses of emotion and mood unique to conscious beings, which an AI is not.

There's something magical about standalone devices and daws where you can plonk some music down and vibe away from a computer that I find really endearing. I love my Polyend Tracker for that reason, among other things.

Quite orcaesque but maybe more accessible.
Lots of euclidean sounding patterns coming out of it. There are some excellent examples is the latter half of the video.
I remastered my acoustic cover of She Used to Be Mine by Sarah Bareilles. The original had too much percussive force on the strings.
I softened those transients but then, underneath, the guitar needed remixing to fill out the tone. I did that and rebalanced it with the vocal, which needed new attention to sit right in the mix.

Lol can't believe this worked right away. I was going to build a 3.3V -> 9V voltage shifter but looks like the Microbrute takes the 3.3V gate signal just fine.
Just for fun I also plugged the GBA to the PWM and it also works there!
Tempted to write a small program that sequences up to 4 gate signals, but feels too niche for anyone other than me haha.

Preparing the release of a new EP, which is basically one 20 minute track consisting of 7 parts.
Sigh. I can't believe it's 2023 and there is still no standard for gapless playback of audio files. 😠
The way I see it, I have 2 choices:
1) chop up the track and hope players don't introduce gaps between the parts
2) leave it one big track and force people to listen through in one sitting
I don't like either solution. 🙄 Or maybe there is something I haven't thought of?
