After a bit of posturing, Alex took a handful of snowballs from a platter, and deposited them on the igneous stones piled up across the room’s four stoves. As the ice turned to vapor, he ladled scoops of balsamic essential oils — sage and cypress — into the steam. Celtic music, as promised at the very start of the session, began to crescendo.
I sat back, not knowing what to think — and what a rarity that was, what a relief. Surrounded by flutes and fiddles, drowning in aromatics, sweating with purpose, and watching this talented man prance around like some sort of Saturnalia steward, I felt equal parts overwhelmed and relaxed. Leading up to my first Charlotte Nude Yoga class on Oct. 13, I was so preoccupied with the idea of being naked around strangers that I hadn’t actually considered the challenge that physically taking off my clothes would hold.
The first decision involved where I would strip down.
“I usually find myself at the front [of the class],” Huck Broyles told me. It made sense that Broyles would be front and center, as he is the founder of Charlotte Nude Yoga. I, on the other hand, chose a corner where I felt comfortable.
I noticed the barn was warm but not oppressively so; the large fan to my right provided calming white noise along with cool air. Red and yellow curtains covered the windows of Big Love Yoga Barn’s garage door to my left and a dark partition stood in front of the door next to it.
The dimmed lights accentuated the swirl of neon covering all four walls, the “You are love, share love” sign on the front wall offset by the intricate circle focal point.
Broyles said he tries to get to classes early to set up and strip nude for incoming participants. He’s found that doing such eases the awkwardness and encourages newcomers to reach the comfort level to undress...

So longtime friend of the Topless Topics community mrich (as we all know him by) and I have been tossing around a #podcast idea for a while (I know, I know...this one will be good though, I promise ;p) and I could use y'alls help in solidifying the concept before we jump in to making it.

Basically, the thought is to provide two different but respectful opinions on a variety of subjects--I'm a cis white woman "coastal elite" from California, he's a cis black man from the South, and we're both #progressive #leftists and huge nerds (especially #gaming !) We're also both #normalizeNudity (and of course #freeTheNipple / #topless #equality ) supporters, raised #nudist / #naturist though I reject the specific label these days (I got a whole video about it at toplesstopics.org/nomorenudism if you're curious), and #sexPositive - I'm #bisexual and #polyamorous , he's straight and monogamous, but totally cool with other models, as long as it's all #consensual . We also (so many commonalities!) are both quite #artistic - he's mainly into #portrait #photography while I'm into #illustration both #digitalIllustration and #traditionalIllustration .

While we're still figuring out the structure of the podcast, the idea is to have a few somewhat disparate sections to it - gaming/ #comics / #cosplay /etc, then brief reaction to current #politics / #news (like #feminism , #LGBTQ , #racialJustice , anti- #capitalism , and so much more), and (hopefully) an interview with someone interesting ( #sexWorker , #activist , #artist , etc...whoever we can find that seems like they'd be a good fit for the pod! Then finally, maybe an "ask us anything" advice/reaction section to round out the episode.

I'm thinking we aim for <= 2 hours, one episode per month, but if we really get into it, maybe an episode every other week. I'm still gonna have to edit it and I have a lot else on my plate so I don't want to overextend myself too much. If we happen to stumble into wild success maybe I could hire someone else to do that part in the future, then we could record more often :p

On some subjects, of course I will defer to his expanded first-hand experience, like #racialInequality . And on other subjects, it'll be mostly my turn to step onto the soapbox, namely about what it's like to be a woman in this #misogynist #sexist world. We've chatted for many hours over the years and always gotten along swimmingly, so I don't anticipate undue friction in the longterm (a benefit of having so many like-minded opinions already). But I still think we have enough difference in life experiences to provide an interesting perspective on a variety of topics.

View looking down a sunny island beach at the base of a hill, the ocean on the right with another low island visible in the distance. The beach on the left is bordered by scrubby vegetation, pale to dark green, sloping quickly up the hill behind. Foreground has a low, flat dune with some black volcanic rocks protruding here and there from sand marked by many footprints amongst sparse grassy vegetation. Immediately below the foreground dune the beach begins with a dozen or so black volcanic boulders the size of large pillows protruding from the sand at the surf line. The sand then stretches uninterrupted into the distance and stops at a rocky point jutting into the water. The quickly sloping sandy beach is occupied by several score scantily clad people, many sitting beneath multicolored beach umbrellas or sunbathing while prostrate on beach towels in the open; numerous people are strolling down the beach in singles or pairs. In the shallow surf are singles, pairs and small groups of people enjoying the gentle waves. Above all is a very blue sky that fades off to the right where the sun is out of the image, and there are some high white clouds like cotton balls to the left disappearing behind the slope that rises behind the beach.

I wholeheartedly support this! If only I could figure it out myself. I feel pressure to have a very focused persona, and that if one has interests that are too widely divergent it's best to have separate handles (or friend circles) to explore them, lest we offend someone.
