✔️ Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES) - World 1-1
💡 At the start of this level, the player falls from a door in the sky that is impossible to enter. If you hack the game so that there is a platform under the door and enter it, the game will respawn the player back to the start of the fall and remove the platform, forcing you to begin the stage.

What's this? Another video already? Yup! Check out this ode to the great NES version of Double Dragon, pretty much the only satisfying contemporary home version of the game. Marvel at my insightful commentary while you chill for roughly 25 minutes.
This one was just finished minutes ago, so be careful as it might still be hot to the touch. 😅

Just went live on #Twitch again ignore my previous stream internet crashed in the middle of it and I am a perfectionist sometimes lol
👾 Retro gamers, here are a couple of classic titles you may know. The Simpsons Bart VS. The Space Mutants and Toki.
First, Toki was very challenging for a little kid, but it was one of my favorite games in my collection. It provided that challenge but without being impossible to play.
Simpsons Bart vs. the Space Mutants was just a game that all my friends gravitated towards since it was of a character everyone knows. I never really got into this game, but my friends did.
I started learning #6502asm with the help of the Nerdy Nights tutorial (which many resources claim to be a perfect start), and this part just blew my mind. Like, why is the color bad? How can you tell something is bad without explaining why? Is it a dare!?
It appeared to be easy to find out though. $0D color even has its dedicated wiki page.
In our #NES dev course, we learn that the APU has 5 audio channels:
The two Pulse channels generate square waves with options of volume & envelope.
But the Triangle channel has no volume/envelope control.
Why is that? 🤔
@morphcat has just published a very interesting article:
Water surface simulation on the NES:
I bought an Anbernic rg35xx in March and it was definitely one of the best purchases I’ve ever made in recent years. I didn’t think I would like playing video games from my childhood and adolescence so much again. What I find impressive is that, even though I have a large library of 8, 16 and 32-bit games, I always end up going back to the original 1987 Castlevania (NES). This video game is very good! #anbernic #rg35xx #retrogaming #videogames #HandheldGaming #castlevania #nes #nintendo
Who remembers "The Big Book of Nintendo Games" from Steve Schwartz in 1991⁉️
Well, did you know there was also a 25th Anniversary version published back in 2015?

Does anyone want to sell me a US NTSC front loader #NES console for money (and an ingame credit)? I want a real one for hardware testing of an ongoing game project. Here in Australia there's plenty of PAL units, and Japanese NTSC, which isn't what I need to test on.
I guess a backup plan would be to send test carts to someone with such a unit already, but that's going to be a lot slower and definitely less fun for me

Yesterday was #NES or "Non-Electric Sunday”:
An experiment where only the fridge stayed on. Devices were locked away or off — battery powered, or not.
The electric car swapped for bikes.
The Switch for a guitar.
Screens for pencils, board games, and books with too much dust, gathered.
Bulbs, for the circadian rhythm, deep conversation, and planning.
We had no idea, and didn’t really care, what time it was.
Strangely live-altering plus OK prep for the apocalypse.
Do try this at home.
Entire towns have been evacuated in Norway after unrelenting rain sparked widespread flooding, and the country's prime minister warned residents that the flooding is "by no means over."
By Brian Lada, AccuWeather meteorologist and staff writer
Published Aug 11, 2023 1:09 PM EDT
"Torrents of water gushed through multiple towns across Norway and #landslides cascaded down mountainsides after a deluge drenched Norway earlier in the week. Residents have been forced to evacuate, and the situation could get worse before it gets better.
"A wet July was the precursor to the flooding, with monthly rainfall more than 300% of the historical average in and around Oslo. The wet pattern persisted through the first part of August with rain falling every day through the first 10 days of the month."

I feel like I did '10 games to know me' before on here but I can't find the post, and I've met so many more of you cool people since then. So here's 10, not even sure it's the same 10. Probably close. What are yours?
Diablo (1 & 2)
Felix the Cat
Duke Nukem (1 & 2)
40 years ago, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) was released in Japan. It would go on to conquer America with help from Teddy Ruxpin.
i keep seeing #pixelart advice but its always with characters that have like 30 or something colors and are super big, when are we going to get pixel art advice for #gameboy, #gameboycolor or #nes graphics? (3 colors + transparency per 8x8/8x16 hardware object, limited onscreen palettes for GBC and especially NES, and rather harsh width/overlay limitations for NES)
