Even worse is the National Grid which connects the electricity network was created in the 1950s & isn't fit for purpose, let alone being ready for the widespread adoption of EV's wind wave & solar.
The UK grid network can barely cope now, let alone if all the things we need to do to reach #NetZero come onto the electricity grid
The #Tories sold off our infrastructure & the privatised utilities have been rinsing out the profits & investing the bare minimum they could get away with 🤷🏾♂️
This is the smoke & mirrors of politics. #Labour acknowledge the #UK has little choice but to upgrade our crumbling infrastructure, but the #Tories are playing politics (like with #ULEZ in the Ruislip by-election) by accusing Labour of having to hike tax to pay for their proposed £28bn pa infrastructure programme.
Labour's rolled back on it so as not to give the Tories an attack point, but polling suggests the UK electorate accept the need to find the money to achieve #NetZero.
They can't have it both ways. Experts say the UK's power infrastructure only has the capacity to cope up to a 40% take up of EV's.
This doesn't include an expansion of the grid network for wind & wave farms & solar.
Our power storage battery capacity is also non-existant, so quite how the #Tories can belatedly talk about reaching #NetZero targets, with a woefully inadequate power infrastructure & network grid is laughable, especially as they've dismissed Labour's £28bn proposals. 🤷🏾♂️

The IPCC thinks that to really address the #climatecrisis we (the world) needs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 45% to achieve a target of #netzero.
