#obs really needs a way to view your plugins. Having to go to the plug-in folder isn't very useful. Sometimes plugins aren't named properly. Sometimes plugins have the OBS prefix in front. Just in general, it's not easy to tell which plugins were default and which ones were added after the fact.

Working on my #virtualcam for an interview tomorrow. Keeping it clean and subtle. Don't want to overwhelm.

Yay, fixed the issues I was having with the display capture source in #OBS on the desktop, and even managed to squash the fan noise from the microphone array. Source is 1920x1080, but the stream is 1280x720 for now.

So, tested #Streamlabs on both #desktop and #mobile Think I might keep it around for mobile and go back to #OBS on the desktop. The experience on mobile was better than the desktop experience, as everything just worked as expected, including being visible on the front camera and what was displayed on screen being fully visible. Plus there's no actual OBS option for Android.

I'm not sure if I should be embarrassed to admit this, but I may have to resort to using #StreamLabs to do #Twitch streams as I can't get #OBS and #Firebot to make things look right. Sure, the audio side works fine, but everything seems to wind up in the upper left corner of the stream. Sadly I don't have anyone to help me set everything up, so I may be forced to work with the tools I have.

Ok so trying to help someone in my family: what would be the best way to do a #YouTube #livestream via #OBS with multiple people (similar to what you apparently can do on instagram)?

I was able to completely configure OBS, but now all I can think of is share the MS Teams window, but that doesn’t look great at all bc:

• Well it’s not made for that, it looks exactly what it is: a shared window of ms teams
• The live owner will be just on a small square on the top right (and if I add the camera via OBS instead, you can’t really split the screen in a good way from there)

What do y’all do?

OBS is easily one of the most usable FOSS software I've used and one of the easiest to use video-related...anythings. Video is just almost always awful, but OBS is very acceptable.

TWF you spend the evening writing the beginnings of the doco, commit it, then immediately spot several critical omissions and have to update.

Got my first #OwnCast stream using #OBS running tonight from my #HomeLab! It worked, but I noticed that while my little server handled it really well, it took about 56% of the CPU resources at any given time while streaming.

So...just have to be aware that I probably don't want to be running this on the same machine as a bunch of CPU hungry services.

This saves me a whole $10 / mo by running it from home. 😆

* Set up a #WriteFreely sandbox to play with it, and it's exactly what I want, out of the box.

* Continued working on the #Owncast platform provider for #StreamAvatars. Now it supports chat-actions, and understands moderator roles.

* Also submitted some feedback to Owncast on GH. Seems like the feature I need to close the loop on remaining features might make it into 0.1.2. Score.

* Plugged away at #OBS for my own streams. Adds Now Playing.

Sudden realization: I used #Windows due to a flair of #OBS (SE.Live to be precise), but now that I don't use #StreamElements anymore (#Owncast rocks!)... Oh boy.

I should get a fresh new SSD and install once again #Linux. I've been out of the distro market for a year or so, I should also check up the news in this sector :geralt_lol:

I was asked to do a recording of a live theatre production, but my #Nikon Z7ii has a (stupid) limit of 30 minute clips, which is not acceptable. Considered breaking down and getting an external recorder like a Ninja V, but then I remembered I have a @system76 #Linux laptop with #OBS, an external HDMI-to-USB capture device, and the Know-How. Currently testing to see how long I can record this way. I don't expect the camera to overheat, but it's a possibility.

Is there a good "stream calandar" template to build off of? I made a quicky but it only works for a week, I'm starting to think I should plan it out for a month bc I can't keep up with making one a week

@supertobi Most #gnome apps use #GStreamer and thus pick Pipewire when available - which again is the case on many/most recent distros. Some newer ones also use the camera portal already, for example Snapshot, Authenticator and Decoder.

Notable non-gstreamer apps include #Firefox (experimental) and almost (some last patches are still pending) #Chromium (and thus by extension #electron apps).

There are also several branches already for #obs which will hopefully turn into a MR soon.

Who's got a good solution for mirroring a stream chat to Discord (and ideally between twitch/youtube)? Restream's thing works but I have to edit Restream settings every time, and I don't actually stream via restream lately.

A better way to get YOUTUBE chat in OBS would also be nice. I use Septapus' CSS which is lovely, but I gotta change the URL every time.

With Streamlabs I don't need to change the URL, but it looks worse.
