Did a little test by rendering my shark scene with Octane Render’s PMC kernel and the Photon tracing kernel.

Photon tracing clearly has the edge when it comes to caustics through nested dielectrics (glass + water).

I didn’t record the rendering times, but those always differ between systems anyway. Photon tracing obviously gets more light and noise solving done in the same amount of samples.
