Two blackbirds were in a field, scratching at the dirt for something to eat, when Crow cawed hoarsely above them. One turned to follow his flight, watching him alight on a nearby fencepost.
“Crow’s black feathers are so lovely,” said the blackbird. They preened at their red shoulder for a moment before continuing, “what I would give to be all-black like Crow!”
Crow turned to look at the blackbirds, then flew away, as if he had heard. The second blackbird made a disapproving sound.
“You should watch what you say. Don’t you know how Crow’s feathers became black?”

This is one of my newer OCs, Niidari. She left behind the mermaid kingdom to seek her own peace in the unknown kelp forest. Sometimes she's referred to as Iridescent Pearl due to the necklace she always wears.
She plays a gu zheng instrument salvaged from a mysterious ship wreck. She also has a pet shrimp!
She doesn't care much for humans, neither does she care for the dry world as whole. Sometimes she might get out of the water for a moment just to feel the wind of rays of warm sunshine, but to her, underwater world is where it's at.

She wanted to become the Arch-Priestess, but for that to happen, she had to be the most powerful.
The woman attempted to make a pact with one of animal spirits, but all of them rejected her request saying that her heart isn't pure and she does not deserve their gifts... until the dusk gathered and Raa, the honorless serpent spirit appeared. The priestess begged for celestial power claiming that she can give everything in return, so the spirit beast agreed and took her memories, turning her into Raajimera, avatar of the serpent mother.
