For my #chronic #spoonie #disability folks: If I have a sore spot on the bottom, to the side and back (but not the back) that hurts with a sharp pain while approaching a full breath (and there’s absolutely no reason for it to be a cracked or bruised rib)… what the hell is inflamed? Could it be that side of the diaphragm? I had a bout of costochronditis a month or so ago, but that would light up the whole rib cage and have even constant pain; this is a jabby #pain.

So, for those who don’t know from elsewhere, I’m not doing great currently.
Had a successful total knee replacement surgery end of March. Well, I say successful.
The surgery was good, the implants are secure and correctly placed.
However, I’ve been hit with a rare complication: Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).
Oh boy, this is *not* something I’d wish on anyone. Not even ransomware actors. Well, maybe ransomware actors.

It’s been the week from hell. My pain levels are up, likely linked to my stress levels being up, and I’ve barely made it out of bed all week. I’ve cried at my support workers almost every shift. I cried at my psychologist this morning.
My mental health is in the toilet right now and without someone to take some of the crap that just keeps piling up off my plate I don’t see that changing any time soon. Every time I turn around there’s some new thing I have to deal with, when I already can’t deal with what’s currently going on. I can’t even manage to pick up the phone and make a simple follow up phone call.
It’s been weeks and weeks of things that I could cope with individually but collectively are just too much. Can someone please stop the world so I can get off for a while?
Even my plants aren’t bringing me joy right now so you know I’m at a serious low. All is not completely lost though. I did manage to crack an almost joke this morning when I told my psychologist to immediately have me committed if I resorted to watching MAFS as a distraction.

Cannabis can still be a controversial topic. The medical benefits for those with physical and invisible disabilities are no secret. People with Invisible disabilities, such as brain injury and PTSD, can be afforded great relief from symptoms by the flower.
Israeli Dr. Raphael Mechoulam, is a well known cannabis research pioneer who has been studying the plant for decades. Read about some of his work in the link below.
Other Research indicates that individuals living with Alzheimers and Dementia may also benefit with less risk and damaging effects than other drugs currently used.
Findings from another Israeli Researcher, Dedi Meiri, argue that there may be benefits to these individuals as well.
"There is a large and growing body of anecdotal accounts of the efficacy of cannabis for treating the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. The shortcomings ... life-threatening dangers...with... frequently prescribed pharmaceutical treatments... makes cannabis a particularly compelling option – especially considering its solid safety profile."
Even more research from the National Library of Medicine (PubMed.gov), speaks about the neuroprotectant antioxidant qualities of the herb. The PubMed link below contains several links to other studies on cannabis and it’s benefits for people with disabilities.
The human body is said to have CBD receptors "built" in. I am neither condoning, nor condemning the use of “Natures Pharmaceutical"; nor am I suggesting it's use. I am merely presenting medical findings.
According to laws in many places amidst these findings, the jury is still out on the subject.

And so it begins. I suffer from chronic pain, and winter is always the worst. I usually fall apart during or just after Christmas (depending on temperature and other stress factors), so despite very low stress the freezing cold got me. Thankfully I often have a cat to keep me company in bed, and my Kindle won't run out of reading material any time soon!

Medical // cramps // pelvic floor
I am having the worst kind of pelvic floor spasms and cramping. It's impossible to pee, I need to press on my bladder and then don't empty fully.
Right now I'm in a lot of pain. Took (nsaid) pain killers, am sitting on a heat pad... it feels almost like being on my period (with endo) only in my behind instead of belly and back.
Tips to make it stop / relax are appreciated.

I finally dragged myself to do grocery shopping today.
It took FOUR Hours.
After all the product decisions, lights, noise, screaming little ones and overwhelming, over-stimulation.. I’m a puddle, in a glass, that got knocked over on the the floor. I feel like a stain on the rug. Oh yeah, I still have to put all the groceries away.

It’s not unusual for people with #BrainInjury and other #InvisibleDisabilities to dislike, and be taxed greatly, by daily tasks. Evie’s piece: “10 Small Things You Can Do to Help Someone with a Brain Injury ”, is a concise, easy reading jem. This is a must for anyone interested in understand and accommodating people that live with (ID) invisible disabilities. It’s worth two minute to read, don’t you think?
As one living the subject matter, I find Evie’s list to be the perfect glimpse for those “looking in”. So many, are unaware that even little things can exacerbate a person with IDs. From where to sit in a room, to being asked “how are you doing “, Evie has great wisdom on accommodation.
For me at times, bright light is like kryptonite with a migrane. Shrilly sounds... and even the “buzz" of shoppers in the background, weakens my battery and bends up the spoons.
The brain is a powerful force that controls our breathing, movement, emotion and thinking. Like any other “muscle”, it wears down and needs rest. This is also true for the brains of individuals with many types of invisible disabilities. Better understanding and accommodation go hand in hand.

On my way to Starbucks this morning I passed a young man on the corner. He had a suitcase, a skate board, and a cardboard sign. I got him a sandwich and a coffee along with my own. After I handed him the food, he looked up and thanked me with such sweetness in his eyes. He looked to be around 23-25 years old, the same age as my kids, and all I could think is that he is somebody’s child that he has a mom and a dad out there. #giving #warmth #pain #coffee #mentalhealth
