#AuditorGeneral (AG) Tsakani #Maluleke has reported “an overall improvement” in the national and provincial #government #audit outcomes for the 2022/23 financial year.
“The number of clean audits has increased quite significantly, and I think that’s quite important,” Maluleke said while tabling the 2022/23 general report for national and provincial departments, their entities and legislatures to #Parliament’s standing committee on the AG on Wednesday.
Overall, the audit outcomes of both departments and public entities improved and more auditees improved their audit outcomes each year of the administrative term than regressed. A total of 37 auditees (9%) showed a net improvement in their audit outcomes in 2022/23 — the biggest movement over the four-year period, according to Maluleke’s report.
Provincial governments showed a net improvement of 44 (27%). The national government showed a net improvement of 34 (15%).」

Westminster Hall is the oldest surviving part of the medieval Palace of Westminster, now part of the UK parliament buildings. Built in 1097 under King William II, for a time it was the largest hall in Europe.
From 1393 on, the original, probably pillar supported roof, was replaced by a hammerbeam roof designed by the royal carpenter Hugh Herland.

It’s troubling to learn that because we’ve underfunded #Parliament over the years, they’ve reached the point where they say they can no longer afford to continue with radio broadcasts.
Radio is available to most, it’s cheap to consume, portable, available to those who are confronting natural disasters, and easy to use by those who struggle with technology.
It’s fundamental to a well-functioning democracy that we all can monitor the performance of those we have elected to represent us.
If no one beats me to it, I’m going to start a Parliamentary petition calling for sufficient funding for the radio broadcasts to continue. This is an essential service.
