It's really calm outside right now after being so windy yesterday, but it's literally the calm before the storm as Storm Agnes , the first named storm of the season, is due to roll in later. High winds could be a problem, because there is still so much foliage on the trees and bushes. Hopefully there are no power cuts.

Last work day today and I have a shed load to try and get finished so I'm going to have a quick coffee and get started.

Good morning everyone. Another nice wee cuddle with Ziggy this morning as we discussed her being my baby. "Are you my baby, baby?" To which she responds "I Boo Boo" ☺️ We also had a session of her making sneezing noises for a few minutes while I had to respond "Bless you!" each time. Jadie decided to have a longer lie today and remained tucked up in her felt on her sleeping perch until I was ready to take the covers off. Good morning everyone. Had a lovely cuddle with Ziggy today as she is in a very good mood this morning, being very cute and chatting away from the moment I came into the room. We have discussed the "paper" that I use for their cages, the amount of "poop" I have to clean up, the"water" I fill their bowls with and "glug glug glug" which is the kettle I fill to put on for my coffee. Jadie also joined in on the "wasser" discussion and asked me "Watcha up to?" while I was cleaning their cages just to make sure I explained that bit to her too. ☺️#parrots #petsofmastodon #birdsofmastodon #goodmorning

Work today, but it's actually a local holiday and my office colleagues will be off. Because I work part time I need to put in leave if I want to take it, but I have so much to catch up with I'd rather just work this one and enjoy a day of no meetings for a change.

Good morning everyone. Up later today. Grant got up for the #parrots as I am still struggling a bit with exhaustion. If the pattern is as normal then it usually takes a couple of weeks to recover back to the level I was at before so I will need to take it nice and slow for a bit #mecfs #goodmorning

So, with that in mind, I plan to watch programmes and do a little #crochet work today on the #Xmas treat baskets. It's nice and simple at this point as I am only doing the baskets themselves and that's just a case of increasing in the round for the base in sc (UK dc) to 66 st. Then a round of sc in BLO and then 14 rounds of fpsc (front post sc) and a final round of sc in FLO. I like using fpsc because it makes the little baskets very firm and gives them a nice texture. I'll work on the embellishments when I have more brain energy to spare ☺️

Good morning. Dark and chilly today, but the house is warm and cosy. The #parrots are eating their upside down breakfast after a brief cuddle with Ziggy during which she ran up my arm and nipped me on the lip. Ouch! ☺️ It was an affectionate gesture, but her little beak is getting sharp again so it will soon be time for another vet visit I think. Jadie's bald spot over the nose hasn't become any bigger and her nares are fine, but we'll get her checked out too when we go. #petsofmastodon #birdsofmastodon #goodmorning

I'm feeling quite tired today so I will be taking it easy. I had planned to finally build the bookcase for my room, but I think I used up my energy store sorting out the plants yesterday. What always gets me about #mecfs is that it's often tasks that you wouldn't think use all that much energy that end up flooring you. Hopefully I can still #crochet today though. We'll see.

Good morning everyone. Longer lie for me today as Grant got up for the #parrots and is going birding this morning. I had many strange dreams overnight. In one someone had hacked into our telly and was holding all the programmes to ransom ☺️ #goodmorning

More bimbling about for me today. I still need to cut the soles for my new slippers and I will do some #crochet Xmas basket design I think. I also have a few pot plants that need repotting so if it doesn't rain I may do those as well. I have some apple tree seedlings that have sprouted from the seeds I planted in a yoghurt container and I also need to separate them out into larger pots.

Today is another one for me to do what I like as there are still no custom #crochet orders yet. If I remember correctly it was also like this around the same time last year then went mad in the run up to Xmas. Truth be told, I am enjoying the break. I'll be working on putting the soles onto my new slippers and also on Xmas gift basket designs for the fandamily.

I also go to fetch my new varifocals today. Yay! I will be able to see again 😁

It's not unusual for one of my #parrots to want a #bath twice in one day, oftentimes of different kinds, since sink bath, getting misted from a spray bottle, standing under shower on my arm, and getting "showered" in a sink with one of those wide stream taps are completely different experiences. To the point where if opportunity arises, sometimes he'll take a bath right after taking a bath of a different kind 🤣

Good morning everyone from a wet, windy, but quite warm Scotland. The #parrots were both awake when I came down this morning, despite it being pitch dark. I think the wind unsettles them a bit. Had a very brief cuddle with Ziggy, but she was more interested in food than me so we agreed to meet up later again 😉 I got yelled at by Jadie when I went to make my coffee, because she has decided she won't start her breakfast until I am back in the room and I was taking too long for her liking. Good morning everyone. Monday again and I really do not understand how it got here so quickly! Ziggy is cross with me this morning and has let it be known with irritated growls and little nips. She has been working on plucking the underside of her wings and when I was cleaning her cage and she started it I threatened to use the antiseptic spray on her and misted the air with it when she didn't listen. Good morning everyone. I got up today just as the heating has been on so the house is very warm and cosy right now. I think Ziggy has been curled up against her preener arch all cosy too, because it took her a few minutes to say "Hmm?" after I put the room light on 😊 I'm always careful not to approach the cage until I hear her awake now after she panicked so badly when upstairs while the living room floor was being done. Jadie is currently throwing her food all over the place with gusto. I've decided to make some crochet gift baskets for family this year for Christmas and fill them with little treats as buying presents for everyone is getting to be too expensive. I managed to have enough energy to clean out the cupboard under the stairs yesterday, something that has been waiting for ages to be done. I need a rest day now though so will be taking it easy. I may work on the #crochet giant snail for my daughter, but I also need a pair of slippers again as I have worn mine past where I can repair them. I still have some leather left so I might make a new pair with leather soles this time.

Good morning everyone from a dark and windy Scotland. The heating has been on a couple of times during the night so I woke up to a warm and cosy house. I had to wait a little bit for Ziggy to wake up again. Being a naked parrot she can't tuck her head in to her feathers as birds do, so we have a preener toy that arches over her sleeping perch with soft cotton ropes and she cuddles herself into those. On a higher perch (which she strangely only uses during the day - birds normally seek the highest perch to sleep on) she has a little fleecy toy she can cuddle into. Jadie has the same, even though she has feathers, because it gives them comfort to have cuddle toys. #parrots #petsofmastodon #birdsofmastodon #goodmorning

I had a lovely cuddle with Ziggy this morning, who is now very calm as the hormones have stopped driving her batty. Jadie has rubbed away some feathers over her nares again, leaving a bald patch. This happened last year around this time too and ended up with four vet visits after her nares were flushed and then totally blocked up confounding the avian vet. I think she may have sinus issues so I'm going to have to find a way to steam her cage as she obviously won't do a "sweat lodge" with me. #parrots #petsofmastodon #birdsofmastodon

Good morning everyone. Decidedly cooler today with an outside temperature of only 8 degrees C. The heating hasn't had to come on yet as there is still residual heat in the house, but it probably will tonight I reckon. I finished the custom #crochet slippers yesterday and managed to cut the leather for the soles, but it was hard going with the scissors I have and I definitely need to invest in a proper pair. The hole punch worked perfectly though so sewing the soles on was an easy task. I'm going to pop them in the post later this morning. I'm not at work today so there's no rush. I'll be working on my daughter's giant snail Santa gift today while watching Foundation, which I am very much enjoying. #crocheting

I woke from a weird dream in which I was told I had won some contest and that social media "influencers" would be coming to film me. All I wanted to do was get away from them and spent the dream trying to do that 😂

I am going to try to finish the custom #crochet slipper boots today. The boots themselves are done, but the customer wanted leather soles on them and I haven't worked with leather before so it will be a bit of trial and error attaching the soles. I bought a hole punch so I could make holes to sew them on, but I'm not sure if my scissors will be good enough to cut them. I'll see how it goes and may need to invest in some heftier scissors if it doesn't work. #crocheting

Today is due to be even hotter than yesterday, so I will be trying to find the coolest spot in the house to #crochet in. I spent a lot of yesterday #frogging because I kept getting things wrong, partially due to the heat. I don't know what it is with the #mecfs, but brain fog seems worse for me when it's hot. At least it's not quite as hot as England, and overnight it's still bearable for sleeping. I think I may need to put a fan on tonight though.

Good morning everyone. It's foggy again here today and the morning has that mystical feeling to it that I love so much. Only a very quick cuddle with Ziggy this morning as she was keen for breakfast. She's been a bit snotty again, mainly because she keeps half drowning herself bathing in her water dish, so I did a "sweat lodge" with her last night to steam her nares a bit. Good morning everyone. A bit of a longer lie today though woken by the #parrots yelling at Grant and in our new living room without a rug yet, the sound echoes and is very loud, so I had no choice than to get up. It seems that Ziggy has taken fright at something and fallen off a perch, because she is now refusing to go back to her normal perch and is balancing on a clam shell perch instead. I've tried moving her rope toy which arches over her normal perch in case you got caught in it, but she's still having none of it so I may need to adjust it all when we get them out later again. I did put a little pink shoe toy in last night and it's possible she saw that and freaked out , so that has now been removed 🤷 #petsofmastodon #birdsofmastodon #goodmorning

Off to the dentist in a wee while and then out and about for a bit to do some shopping and have Grant cut my daughter's grass while she is away.

There's about half a dozen of them (maybe more but I've only seen that many in one go) that live at One Tree Hill a 10 minute walk away.

They aren't native and I think they are Australian but have no idea how they got here.

They seem happy enough and have been here for years - there's nothing much that's native here that would be a threat to them

Feeding time for the local parrots - this fella allowed me to get nice and close, although that slightly peeved expression suggests I might have pushed my luck a little.

Good morning everyone. Longer lie for me as Grant is going birding this morning and got up for the #parrots. Jadie is currently yelling "What's wrong?" at Grant and doing her "Petchew! Petchew! Waaargh!" routine. She is always a lot more vocal with him, he being her person and all. I mostly get grumbling 😂 #petsofmastodon #birdsofmastodon #goodmorning

Grant is taking a bag of #crochet flowers round to his Mum's today for the wedding. There's probably about 40 or so there I managed to do, so hopefully that will be enough to go on the wedding arch which the bride and groom will walk through. There will also be #crossstitch flowers his sister has made (she's been wedding planning for over a year so has probably made loads 😊).

Today I will be starting the custom crochet toy order that came in on Monday. Another order for a kid's drawing #toy also came in yesterday, so I have a full backlog again. #crocheting
