Mashiro reads her latest picture book at the library. The girls love it, but two rambunctious boys think it's boring. Of course that comment outweighs all the praise and applause.
It reminds me of a program I did at #Penguicon with horror author Michael Cieslak:

The stories people told about how they were blocked were heartbreaking.

At a room party at #Penguicon this year and Matt Arnold and a couple AI researchers were chatting about unreasonable fears about AI and what people really should worry about. It was fascinating, and there was high-end cheese and infused gin. :NyanPff:

I have a couple stories published, and I'm working on a couple light-novel-style stories, but a long commute makes for slow progress.

Hugtto #Precure is a solid series- I was surprised with reddit anime giving it anime of the year. The job theme was well-done- some of the jobs they tried were things a Japanese girl would think fun, but turned out to have downsides.

13 {Last Con or event?}
#Penguicon, April 2023. Hands-down my best event, and apparently unique. People do panels and workshops on their passions, and there have been as many as 500 panels over the weekend in about 10 tracks.
I've headed the #Anime track, and also done programs in the literature, DIY, and life tracks.
For next year, I'm on the con committee!

I should try that for #Penguicon #1. Terry Pratchett was the guest of honor, and it was a small con at that time, so people had the opportunity to talk with him.

My first thought impressions after being back from #penguicon. 1) I need to learn to sew better, the crafts and projects people make are amazing. 2) I need to get better at coding pi/arduino projects. My code is sloppy (works!) and inefficient. 3) I need to lay off drinking a little while...

There are reasons I adore #penguicon. Making the hotel restrooms gender neutral is among them.
The readings at #Penguicon are taking place in the Portage Auditorium.
The Portage Auditorium bears a lot of resemblance to the auditorium where someone dies in "$ git sync murder."
Mind you, the con in $GSM does to take place at this hotel, and that con is decidedly NOT Penguicon.
Still... should I be worried?
I'm hatching sinister plans how to get one without having to attend #penguicon ...
If you're within traveling distance of Detroit, #Penguicon is April 21-28. I've had to scale back the #anime track a little, but there's still a lot to do. Lots in the #DIY, #writing and #tech tracks.

Long-time #anime fan, starting with the original US broadcasts of Astro Boy and 8th Man.
I present programs and panels at conventions like #penguicon.
My favorite anime genres are supernatural, psychological, slice of life, iyashikei, maho shojo, romance, shojo, seinen and josei.
I don't watch a lot of shonen anime.
I'm a big fan of #precure- an all-ages magical girl metaseries by Toei that's been running since 2004, with over 900 episodes.
By the by, if you were at #Penguicon 2022 and we met, I'd love to connect with you on the fediverse as well!
