Per an article in the NYT, the aggregate debt of developing nations is about $200 billion. Elon Musk could pay off that debt and still be worth $69 billion. (Musk's net worth is a range, depending on source and calculation. I used the Forbes number that appeared at the top of my Google search.)
Not as recorded by history; Not as it matters.
(Edit: I do see & acknowledge your #perspective, though. It has validity as a measurement in certain arenas. Perhaps less so in this instance? One race representing competition as the other represents cooperation.
Choosing to receive your input as aid rather than detraction - I’m appreciative of your wish to build upon the efficacy of the message by increasing the accuracy of the analogy.)
Learning to distinguish the map versus the territory is an essential step. It’s critical to learn what a map is, and what maps are good for, in order to proceed with one’s life. Maps enable me to see and do things otherwise impossible; maps reveal unknown unknowns. Maps can also frustrate me endlessly. Sometimes I don’t want to have an opinion; I don’t want to spend the energy to have an opinion. I don’t care how I get from here to there. Just. Tell. Me. how to get there. And of course nothing in this paragraph has to do with literal maps of the world— I’m not talking about cartography nor driving directions.
On closer examination, it turns out there are many things wrong with it. Thousand True Fans is a hollow philosophy. It is Chicken Soup for the Digital Creator’s Soul, ultimately devoid of any real nutritional value.
Kevin Kelly’s 1,000 True Fans is a map, before it there was another map, The Cluetrain Manifesto, and there were others. When you find a new-to-you map it opens your mind to new possibilities. I would assume the first children’s books I encountered were astounding, but wouldn’t have the same effect today. (I’m not denigrating either of those works; I’m not suggesting they are “children’s books”.)
But I do get frustrated. I see a terrific map, and then I want to make a terrific next “move”. That’s not how maps work, Craig. You look at the map, then you take the next small step informed by everything you know, including the new perspective from the new map. You write one sentence (for example, on a page soliciting support for your work) and that’s informed by all the maps you’ve previously seen. Big picture. Little steps.

Well done @arash4sadri 👏
The importance of outside-in perspective! Excellent approach by Novartis!
It is a different point whether such perspectives are being acted upon or not; the first point is accepting that there is value in the outside-in perspective. For a company as large as Novartis to accept that is a pretty big deal.
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight an convolutions of Einstein’s brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.
How does #art come into being for me? Mostly by looking. By shifting the #perspective while observing, by #connotations.
A package is supposed to go into the recycling bin. A strip of words from another one. I see them white, painted with gesso. As a basket with a handle. It should overflow with paper #butterflies. #Humans and their making of #species #waste. #Beauty. Longing. Possibilities.

Artist's Perspective by James McCormack
A distorted artist's perspective shows the artist from above holding a globe or crystal ball while his other hand has the index finger pointing at the words Artist's Perspective in a spiralling perspective.

The nuances of UX. Understanding that driving towards this hole means English no longer reads top-to-bottom, but in reverse. The result? “Big very hole.”
Someone with a heart bigger than this hole took the time to warn people. That’s what matters. But I can’t look at this without considering reading order, travel speed, etc. That’s UX.
In any case, I hope someone puts some gravel in that hole. It’s perilous. May you all avoid the “big very holes.”

Everything in this image of the Eagle Nebula is invisible to the human eye.

It's time for the Fediverse to learn about Robots.TXT files and add server-level (and perhaps user-level) features that instruct search engines like Google about which profiles are welcome for external indexing, and which are not.

My latest musings: "What makes us human?"
Window Friday. At this bus station in Amsterdam is a beautiful morning scene of colorful windows. They look artistically placed and are pleasing to look at. Early morning sun is behind some of the colored panes. If seen from far away on the outside you would notice that the red and orange spell AMSTERDAM. I really enjoyed this perspective.
But as #JamesBaldwin puts it, "The world changes according to the way people see it, and if you alter, even by a millimeter, the way a person looks or people look at reality, then you can change it."
And that is why I believe a better #SearchEngine could change the world.
Researchers at Australian National University developed a clever way to sense seismic waves reverberating inside the Earth. Those echoes made it possible for them to sense the growing metallic seed at the center of our planet. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-023-36074-2#auth-Hrvoje-Tkal_i_ #Perspective

@davetron5000 well said, all of these folks are there to pride their best advice given the circumstances of the moment... you should consider their advice from a holistic perspective weighing all if the available information available... the decision based on the advice is on you...

I'm also going to be teaching a remote & asynchronous class on voice & perspective.
We'll examine a variety of narration techniques and the opportunities & challenges of each.
Topics include: POV, filtering, personality, sensibility, reliability, secrets & mystery, omniscience, tense, narrative distance, curation of objects, narrative strategy, & some other strange stuff
Starts Mar. 15
In PR's and Issue comments etc.
Instead of writing "You" and drawing attention to the person on a personal level.
Try writing without and see the difference.
It doesn't have to be about You, Yourself or Me, Myself.
It could be plainly about the PR or about the Issue.
No need to make it personal, please #perspective
