Good morning! So yesterday I finally got round to playing a bit with my new #Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD and I have to say it's taken me by storm! Thanks again @psdi for giving me some info from hands-on experience with that lens!

This stands in no proportion whatsoever with my previous telephoto lens. The colours are all there, properly balanced raw images where I have nothing much to do other than the usual clean-ups and slight contrast/colour enhancements to get a presentable result in #darktable... And my, being able to shoot handheld at the full 300mm without crazy ISOs in good light conditions and still get sharp pictures thanks to image stabilisation is such a delight!
TL;DR: I'm very happy with that lens and now am really looking forward to my vacation later this month without grieving over having only a pretty terrible telephoto...

From the lens to the pictures... I set out to catch the #sunrise over #Berlin, but I wasn't aware that the place I picked is so densely surrounded by trees and shrubs you have no chance of getting a decent view of the city, not to mention the sun rising over it. So instead I mostly got #nature shots of the local #wildlife - and that #hedgehog which I didn't notice until it started to be very vocal about its disapproval of me accidentally coming too near!

New phone! My trusty Google Pixel 2A has started to bulge quite badly in the middle after about 4 years (it had a swollen battery, but it still works) so I needed a new one - I could have gone for the Pixel 7A but I wanted the better camera and it does not disappoint! The Pixel 7 Pro has 5x optical vs the Pixel 2A's 2x optical, but the digital zoom processing is much better on the 7 Pro.

First shot is using the 2A, zoomed in as far as it can go (7x digital zoom). The second is the 7 Pro at about the same 7x zoom - much better! The third shot is at full 30x digital zoom and it's pretty compressed and impressionist at that level as one might expect, but it's probably not bad for targets that don't have lots of small details. I'll try it out in the field soon and see how it goes. #Google #Pixel7Pro #smartphone #photogaphy

Behind the town of Seaside in Florida lies a lake which no doubt contributes to the humidity during the day there.

Early one morning I photographed this dragonfly resting on the fence on a small pier on the lake. The air was still cool, so the dragonfly was probably still sluggish until the day warmed up.

Yesterdays #NameThatCar challenge, which proved pretty tough,it is a 1967 Buick Special, its a Coupe but I will forgive you not getting that from a headlamp! The owner went for a heavy "patina" finish, not to everyones taste but I strikes a good balance. The interior was lovely. What do you think of this approach?

Bronze coloured Buick Special Coupe with Mag alloy wheels and tyres with a white stripe. The car is finished in a patina style with an amount of corrosion and faded paint as part of the look.

I love vintage and antique cameras. I even own a few as collector's items, but this guy is out there repairing them and using them.
