There were a number of paved pathways at Casibari that wound around the many large boulders and cacti. I heard birds so, of course, I went in search of them. At a distance I first thought this was a Mourning Dove but discovered it was an Eared Dove which was a new one for me to add to my lifer list! 04-23

I couldn't believe this Brown Pelican was perched on this street light. I was in the area about 4 years ago and saw one perched in the exact same place and thought it was strange at the time as I had never seen a pelican perch on something like this. I guess it did offer a good vantage point; it was right by the boat ramp at Goose Island State Park in TX

This Yellow Crowned Night Heron was very close to the trail that goes around the lake in the Estero LLano Grande State Park in south Texas. Umbria can only be the'green heart of Italy' if it rains - and it's done a lot of that these last few days! Not disastrously so as in other Italian regions, but enough to make us long for summer!

This superb pale yellow Water Lily, #nymphaeaceae with the deep rich yellow centre is one of the highlights of my backyard pond. The green lily pads naturally enhance the yellow petals and the reflection is perfection.

This bird is an Anhinga perched on a dead tree in the middle of a gator infested lake in the early morning light. Anhinga are very adept swimmers. Diving deep to bring up large fish, it is not uncommon to see them flapping their wings under water as they move swiftly in search of food.

This is the oldest of the lighthouses in the Bahamas, built in 1817. It is built of brick and stands 68 ft tall. This view is from the cruise ship once in the Nassau Port, Prince George Wharf, looking back toward the open sea.
