#Photos taken in my #garden earlier #today. I've selected these slightly soft focus images as they bring out the colour better at the expense of the shape or form.

All of these #roses are grown using #organic methods and never had a drop of weed or insect killer, let alone artificial fertilisers. I feed them using a nettle and comfrey mix grown in my #backyard .

I wanted to update the firmware (to version 1.1.6) of the used Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II that I bought recently because the firmware that is currently on it only supports SD cards < 2 GB and CF cards < 8 GB. But as Canon has removed all the firmware from their website, the only option for me would've been to send it to them for a fee and have them update it in the factory.

Fortunately, the Wayback Machine had the file I wanted and I was able to download it! Very nice :-)

Almost forgot it was #caturday. This skinny black kitty lives with a lot of other #cats in La Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires.

I have to admit, I really love the rich bokeh that a full-frame DSLR produces.

Went out and took a few test shots with @psdi with my new (used) Canon EOS 1Ds Mk II.

Taken with the rather cheap Canon EF 50 mm f/1.8 lens at f/2.0.

Here's a friendly reminder of the usefulness of geotagging photos using GPS tracks, even in this age of GPS in cameras and phones.

These photos are from a weekend run with my Nikon Coolpix W300, a compact waterproof camera with a GPS. The 1st map is where the camera thought it was. The 2nd map is after geotagging with a continuous GPS track.

The difference can be 100 m in some cases. That's important for nature observations. I see the same with my iPhone photos.

A screenshot of Darktable showing an OpenStreetMaps map with photos on it. The photos are located using the coordinates of the in-camera GPS. As you'll see from the next screenshot, these locations aren't very accurate.

I typically run with the camera turned off. I turn it on when I want to take a photo, then turn it off again. This gives the camera limited time to figure out where exactly it is using its GPS. My iPhone gives similarly inaccurate locations when I do the same with it.

A screenshot of the same view of Darktable, this time after the photos have been geotagged with a GPX file from a continuous GPS track of my run. Some of the photos are now in quite different, and much more accurate, locations.

Today's #FensterFreitag image comes from Jaipur, Rajasthan. A very orange Friday to you all.
