I made this, although I can't sell it yet. I no longer have a disc player so @a39_ca will be the tester. Normally things should be fine but I am not in a big hurry to sell this since I barely profit from it and I sold 100 times fewer physical albums than digital (12 vs over 1K) #CD #Disc #PhysicalMedia #CDisDead
Here’s why you should never get rid of your Blu-rays (or DVDs) By Chris Bumbray for Joblo.com.
Because I'm stupid and want #physicalmedia for my games again, I'm looking at moving to a single-game per card #Steam MicroSD games for my #linuxgaming PC and #SteamDeck . I'd love to put the cards into unit cases to put up on a shelf but I'd love to hear some outside opinions.
If you were to install your #PC games on single media format, what form would you use and how would you store/display it?

Cannot wait to get S1 on #physicalmedia.
Monday Michiru _Maiden Japan_ JP Kitty 1994
Akiyoshi Michiru second album, but her first under her more well known alias Monday Michiru. Part of the growing Japanese acid jazz scene, Monday Michiru has connections to jazz, as the daughter of Akiyoshi Toshiko, so Michiru's mix of jazz and house blends well. Also on the album are Tycoon Tosh (Plastics), DJ Krush and United Future Organization.

My rewatch this year of the entire Nightmare and Friday series finally came to end today as I watched my #physicalmedia copy of Freddy vs. Jason. It is a really fun film that tries to do justice to the lores of both series and come up with interesting stuff for both characters to do and ways to interact, and I think it mostly succeeds. A little CGI heavy and ya gotta make some real logical leaps for the film to work, but I still love it. #horror #movies #slasher
Wherein I try a small disc-by-mail service, the awkwardly-named 3D Bluray Rental (spoiler, it was perfectly fine and I’ll probably use it again): https://www.markllobrera.com/posts/3d-bluray-rental/
@endDRM Yes! 💪🏼👍🏼
I'm stuck with hundreds of songs and dozens of movies, purchased on a large platform, which I might lose access to at any time.
I still haven't found a way to "free them" yet.
Tomita _Snowflakes Are Dancing_ CA RCA Red Label 1974
After the surprise success of Wendy Carlos's Switched On Bach, Moog and synthesizer interpretations of classical music became a bit of a fad in the early 1970s. Tomita Isao, known professionally as simply Tomita, produced one the more influential followups. Tomita takes the Debussy piano pieces and turns them into ambient soundscapes, showcasing the rapid development of synthesizers of the time.
Sometimes I think about trying to find a still working HD #DVD player on eBay because I once made the mistake of looking up how much HD DVDs go for and quickly realized they are one of the few forms of #physicalmedia that apparently almost no real collector's market has formed around so I could build up a pretty decent library (of the limited library the format had, of course) for very, very cheap.
I don't often make sound financial choices, so I really gotta retrain myself here.

I think I forgot to post my latest #physicalMedia haul. I have wide ranging tastes
Rejected buying a pricy but decent lot of #horror #VHS tapes tonight because among the duplicates in my overall #physicalmedia collection, I already own Salem's Lot TWICE (on a DVD collection & alone on BluRay) and this lot had TWO MORE copies of Salem's Lot. I simply cannot be a person who just owns 4 different copies of something I only consider like the 3rd best #stephenking miniseries (shoutout to how underrated the 90s version of The Stand was)
I realized yesterday that for all the good horror compilations I own, I don't own a single copy of any of the Evil Dead trilogy and a quick search online indicates I'm gonna be paying a premium if I want all three on BluRay together, maybe having to get Ash vs. The Evil Dead too (not that I would mind owning that series) as part of it. #physicalmedia on a budget frustrations. #horror
From October 2021: What's the future of DVDs and Blu-rays?
The biggest con doing the rounds these days is that #PhysicalMedia is obsolete. This is not helped by people being lazy and obsessed with 'convenience'.
The future is not one of progress, but never-ending landlordism as we will end up having to rent EVERYTHING.
Still, #Netflix, amirite?
"#BestBuy is exiting the physical media business for good in #2024..."
As all these streaming services slash content and then massively jack up their prices, I feel more justified than ever for the monthly budget I allocate myself to build up a #physicalmedia collection.
Well, #XBox360, it was a heck of a ride, but you're now old enough to drink. Meanwhile, the much-yearned for (if you're a mega-corp) death of #PhysicalMedia draws near. Imagine #Spotify stamping on a creative's face, forever.
"...Microsoft revealed Thursday it will shutter its Xbox 360 Store next summer, nearly two decades after the console hit the market..."
Films that really deserve a Blu-ray release #9:
A Canterbury Tale (Emeric Pressburger and Michael Powell, 1973). Not to be confused with a similarly titled Pasolini film, this Powell and Pressburger effort is the most romantically British of British wartime films. With it's wheat fields and cathedrals it presents a vision of Dear Blighty straight out the world of a Sir John Betjemen poem. Glorious. Yet sadly unavailable on Blu-ray.
"How can we cut out trackable income and slash residual costs."
"Stop selling physical media?"
"Johnson, you are a mad genius."
😢 Sad news for physical media fans! 📀 Will Guardians of the Galaxy mark Disney's final physical release in Australia? 🇦🇺
It seems Disney is embracing streaming and withholding 20th Century Fox classics from DVD/Blu-ray releases.
As someone who loves collecting physical copies, this trend is disheartening. 🤔
The Video Game History Foundation and the Software Preservation Network conducted the first ever study on the commercial availability of classic video games, and the results are bleak.
More than half (87%) of classic video games released in the United States are critically endangered -- unfindable and unplayable.
"Just 13% of video game history is being represented in the current marketplace. In fact, no period of video game history defined in this study even cracked 20% representation."
This is pretty messed up. The study just backs up what advocates of physical media have been saying for years.

Hi, I’m Mark! I’ve been working on the web for over twenty years, and I love working on content management systems, experiential media, and good ol’ websites. I live near Philadelphia with my family but have previously lived in New York, New Jersey, various spots in the Philippines, California, and Texas.
I enjoy talking books and movies, and you can find my reading and viewing logs on my personal site. I believe in #physicalmedia and indie book/video stores 📚📀

My latest folly is upgrading my entire collection of Jean Rollin's films from DVD to Blu-Ray.
I don't normally do this (I'm not obsessed with the Blu-Ray format) but the DVDs are from the early DVD era. And we are talking about Jean Rollin, just about my all-time favourite film director.
It's an expensive project.
My name is Kimberly, I am a fan of #cinema, especially #horror and not just films but the people who create the movies we love which is also why I have a #podcast and why I invest in movies and will find me as a producer and scorer on some.
