I spotted a cute decal capturing Pittsburgh's epic bus woes that uses the phrase. But I don't want to perpetuate a harmful phrase unknowingly.
With two bills that passed through our city council unanimously, #Pittsburgh, PA has positioned itself as a #SanctuaryCity for #TransPeople. One bill prevents any city resources for being used to provide information or evidence to prosecute a trans person for seeking #GenderAffirmingCare here in the city. As a former #PollWorker, it is fascinating that #KingCounty #Seattle does their elections (or at least tomorrow’s primary?) 100% by mail-in ballots and ballot boxes. I was hoping to volunteer as a worker for some future election again - clearly it’ll have to be in another capacity!
Shout-out to #AlleghenyCounty + #Pittsburgh for helping me catch the civic-duty bug! I miss the old polling place where I worked several elections that was LITERALLY THE GARAGE OF A DUDE’S HOUSE.
My #orchestra's May concert is online. It's a pretty fresh set of music by American composers - #JohnAdams, #LeonardBernstein, #aaroncopland and more. I'm realizing I could be a bit more "economical" with my bowing, and stop making faces when I goof up...but more importantly, this is just such a GOOD GROUP of people. And I'm proud of the orchestra for challenging itself to do diverse repertoire.

How am I still getting #Nextdoor notifications for #Pittsburgh when I've officially changed my address to my #Seattle one? It keeps throwing me off that there are alerts about lantern flies and I get worried that they've finally marched westward across the Rockies, only to breathe a sigh of relief to learn that we're lantern-fly-free.

I went to my garage to let my kiddo in and for kicks I took out the #AQI monitor. AirNow.gov says #Pittsburgh AQI is 152. The first reading is the garage when I first went out. I opened the door for ~90 seconds for kiddo’s entry & the second reading is 5 minutes later. This shows how swiftly smoke can foul indoor air if given entry. The monitor was 30 feet from the door. When they say to keep doors and windows closed, they mean it!
