#WorldPoetryDay seems like a perfect time to share favourite poems. One of mine, and appropriate for #spring, though a few weeks late, is Miracle on St David's Day, by Gillian Clarke. It's based on a true story, something which happened to the #poet in the 1970s, and speaks to the power of #poetry.

John Cooper Clarke's 'I Wanna Be Yours' is apparently the world's favourite poem. He's a good bloke is Mister Clarke. I saw him at that gig at the Ally Pally in Crystal Palace in 1980 (pictured in the article). He was brilliant; but also really friendly and down-to-earth, happy to have a chat and give me an autograph (which I lost about 5 mins later, of course). Good to see his work getting the appreciation it deserves. 😀

Every time I explain the struggle I've been facing in finding a publisher, inevitably someone always chimes in with "DiD yOu KnOw AbOuT sElF-pUbLiShInG????" Of course I know about it! Jesus, I tried it twice and failed horrifically. I don't know how to market anything profitably, and no free resource knows how to market a young adult paranormal non-romance that reads more like a text-based anime than like Twilight. If I self-publish, I need thousands of dollars for professional marketing. My income sucks, so that's why I've been dead-set on traditional publishing despite the constant, never-ending form rejections I get regardless of the huge amount of work I put into my query.
