It seems that #ChatbotGPT has gotten ahold of my diaries from summer of my sophomore year in high school, but has not read any of my published work...

write a poem in the style of Tiffany Lee Brown

I float on a dreamy cloud,
Soft as a feather, light as a shroud.
A breeze whispers through my hair,
I close my eyes and let go of care.

As I float on this dreamy cloud,
I am reminded of the beauty around.
Life is a gift to cherish and hold,
A precious jewel, more valuable than gold.

La prima notte di primavera
amore mio
ho socchiuso la porta finestra della mia camera verde
e tu sei entrato
con le speranze infrante e le risate
con i silenzi e le parole umane
imperfette e calde
e sei rimasto nel mio canto,
separati dal mondo.

Di primo mattino
amore mio
nella fortuna della quiete
ho cacciato il sole
per restare in penombra
e berci indefiniti e belli
tiepidi e oscuri,
noi da soli e stanchi,
nella prima preghiera
di un’alba in primavera.

"I Am Not Old"
by ~ Samantha Reynolds
I am not old…she said
I am rare.
I am the standing ovation
At the end of the play.
I am the retrospective
Of my life as art
I am the hours
Connected like dots
Into good sense
I am the fullness
Of existing.
You think I am waiting to die…
But I am waiting to be found
I am a treasure.
I am a map.
And these wrinkles are
Imprints of my journey
Ask me anything.

This auroch walked the earth in days gone by
So ancient all his kind are near forgot
Yet one there was who noticed and who caught
The graceful horn, the beard, the gentle eye.

I do not know the one who saw, and thought
It worth their while to hold a fleeting gaze
To carve in bone the grace they wished to praise
With line precise, though eye and hand untaught

Yet they are my brother; across the years
They reach out and put their hand in mine
The beast they saw before my eyes appears
Bequeathing me that moment out of time

Inheriting another’s vision true,
I transmute it, and hand it on to you.
An auroch carved on bone by a paleolithic artist.

#Art Sculpture ~ Lorenzo Quinn

In between Hyde Park and The Dorchester Hotel along London’s Park Lane, locals and tourists alike are being captivated daily by Lorenzo Quinn’s massive public sculpture, entitled Harmony. This installation deconstructs the recognizable symbol of the Yin and Yang, by creating a physical gap between the two pieces and placing two aluminum figures in the opposing slopes of each side. The male figure sitting in the lower nook of the brushed aluminum Yang stares deeply into a polished chrome sphere, while the female figure seated in the upper recess of the Yin symbol replicates this gesture with a distressed sphere. Each of these orbs seem to be the perfect size to fit into the hollow hole in each side of the symbol, implying that “each person fills a space that the other was missing and therefore complet[es] his companion. This creates a perfect harmony that is essential to every relationship.”

Small drawing in black and red ink with a pair of brush pens resting to the right. Lush red peony-like flowers send petals falling like flakes down the page, floating about a handwritten poem that reads:
"For once I want to be sent flowers instead of always assembling my own bouquet.
I want it to come out of nowhere
and hit me when I have no expectations
for anything other than what I could readily expect."

John Cooper Clarke's 'I Wanna Be Yours' is apparently the world's favourite poem. He's a good bloke is Mister Clarke. I saw him at that gig at the Ally Pally in Crystal Palace in 1980 (pictured in the article). He was brilliant; but also really friendly and down-to-earth, happy to have a chat and give me an autograph (which I lost about 5 mins later, of course). Good to see his work getting the appreciation it deserves. 😀

Don’t love me,
take what I give and be happy.

Don’t love me,
be there to listen when the burden of existence
becomes too heavy, and I need to share.

Don't love me,
I give, for I'm so desperate to receive.

You reach for me with your heart upon your sleeve
and I fall.
I fall in the depths of my fears and despair,
taking refuge in pain inflicted upon me by others.

The others, my demons,
the ones you need to fight,
the ones I need to conquer.
I long for a haven of forever.
I long for one out of thousands.
I'm hoping for the impossible —
life's promise that this time it will last,
that this time there won't be any pain,
that this time my love won't be in vain.
Don't love me
for it's the illusion you love.

Cracks you sense in me
you fill with what you want me to be.
I'm broken and mended time and time again.

Every night, with glittery moonlight
I break.
With every dawn
I became whole again,
mended in tears of my own despair.

Sun is the healer,
it chases the shadows away
and fear has no place in my heart once again.

Healing, I need healing.

Don't love me
for I'm not whole.

I’m in pieces scattered around me.
I mourn each and every one of them,
making a new mosaic every day.

Don't love, but love me anyway.

~ Iva

This poem was written as I was resisting to let go and fall in love with my husband.

Happy equinox to all—and to those of us in the north, happy first day of spring!

Here's a poem to celebrate, thanks to the Poetry Today newsletter of Maya C. Popa. You can find more from Maya here: https://mayacpopa.substack.com/

#poetry #poem #spring #equinox #HarlemRenaissance

At the Spring Dawn, by Angelina Weld Grimké - 1880-1958
I watched the dawn come, Watched the spring dawn come. And the red sun shouldered his way up
Through the grey, through the blue,
Through the lilac mists.
The quiet of it! The goodness of it!
And one bird awoke, sang, whirred
A blur of moving black against the sun,
Sang again—afar off.
And I stretched my arms to the redness of the sun,
Stretched to my finger tips,
And I laughed.
Ah! It is good to be alive, good to love,
At the dawn,
At the spring dawn.

Hitting nail on the head here:

37 - ceramic figurines - 30,000 years ago. as flame transforms our fodder - softens grain and blackens flesh - it acts upon this clay as well; it metamorphoses the grey and slumping mass to stone that might maintain its shape forever. once our digits train and sculpt, we heat the image for a day; as long as firing doesn’t crack away our work in an explosion, what remains is miracle - extrusion of a thought to tangible embodiment. we make conceptions coalesce to fixity from molded mud; the beasts and gods are caught in petrifying pyromancy, baked in figurines our fingertips set free.

"The Orville Renewed"

The Orville, a sci-fi delight,
With humor, action, and heart to spare,
Deserves to be renewed with all its might.

Its characters, both alien and bright,
Have grown and evolved with each affair,
The Orville, a sci-fi delight.

Its explorations, both dark and light,
Of the universe, and what's out there,
Deserves to be renewed with all its might.

Its stories, both epic and tight,
Are thrilling, heartfelt, and rare,
The Orville, a sci-fi delight.

So let's make our voices heard tonight,
And show the world that we all care,
The Orville, a sci-fi delight,
Deserves to be renewed with all its might.

watching this film, originally in English and Mandarin
dubbed in German and then in Russian
not quite eliminating the previous audio tracks
would probably be a bit easier if it weren’t also subbed
in Dutch over Cantonese over English
rendering the experience occluded holographic

four fragmented linguistic elements variously known
as one might know cooking oatmeal and French toast
where historically French toast has been any number of things
while oatmeal, beloved oatmeal, sometimes utterly lacks oats
in a mélange with eggy cinnamon, while the French breads
sometimes don’t even egg a little bit, even in the closet

finding myself on the streets again, angry teens RDXing cars
tanks getting ready to roll, but not rolling yet, economic collapsar
spinning in radio silence, glitches of radio screams
punctuating interstellar distances where we’ve been dreaming contact
everything between included, photographic intersectional
a sophit lie-down, upside-down, soft-silenced

where we’re watching this film we’re in, knowing it’s coming
knowing it’s been, knowing in iron cornices filed down to wire
magnetized, shaken to blank, baby syndrome regurgitating memetics
screening truths that are truths that are truths that have never been
gyrations at umbilicus end, it’s not fashion, it’s not ism, it’s dance
threshing striations towards homogenous obliteration, unpeopling

we have always been watching this film, we have always been in it
saying there is no film, there is please gods no film, where are my people
everyone pointing at painting in egg-wash, baking down fixations
motivations in let it not be real, let the reveal be concealed eternally
burn cinnamon, burn the itch, burn the ever-loving ash out of the
[insert people here] until we can look the other way, everyone like us

we are not watching this film, we have never been here
fill the trenches with everything we might have known
dark matterless prolapsar, where are my people
where are my people, glitch-signal out
broken E-R bridge, white light
white light

where are my people

> ... though the enacted subject is a sad one, the act of performing it is joyous because it leads the poet to true equivalents of his feeling. In art a true equivalence (no matter of what) is always a joyous capture.
#JohnCiardi in #HowDoesAPoemMean made me think of #Camus in #TheRebel on #DespairingLiterature, that there can not be a #LiteratureOfDespair, We read for #JoyousCapture, I guess. #Poetry #Poem #LitCrit

Screenshot of page XXI of John Ciardi's _How Does a Poem Mean_. The text is:
> But paraphrase can only open the discussion. End the discussion there and nothing has been said about the poem, for a poem does not exist in its subject matter but in its way of transcending the subject matter.
Sometimes, for subject purposes, a poem pretends to be sad, as does Keats’ “When I have fears that I may cease to be.’” What may be called “the performing voice’ of the poet is registering Keats’ awareness that he is doomed to die young, his talent unfulfilled. When (as the performing voice says it) he thinks about that, everything sinks to nothingness.
But that paraphrase is not so much “what the poem means” as “what the poem pretends to mean for the purposes of its performance.” And though the enacted subject is a sad one, the act of performing it is joyous because it leads the poet to true equivalents of his feeling. In art a true equivalence (no matter of what) is always a joyous capture.

For what I think I've found
I plan to call to them over

Could I be wrong?
Could my search have ended false?
How else could so many weary souls
Pass by their heart's desire?

I thought I'd found the light.

The twenty-eighth piece. Another lovely subway encounter that put a smile on my face!

"The Flute Player" previously posted at https://www.pillowfort.social/posts/1895453

A small drawing in black and red ink, with a pair of brush pens resting diagonally across the bottom left corner of the paper. A flautist holds a red flute to smiling lips. A handwritten poem between the musician reads:
"A small child
The flute player’s tune changes
Twinkle, twinkle"

We need spaces of wild idleness. Wide expanses of feral ambling, even if only for brief stretches. Just enough for remembrance and recognition; to remember our own undomesticated possibility, to recognize our undiscovered vastness.

"With human nature caged in a narrow space, whipped daily into submission, how can we speak of its potentialities?" (Emma Goldman, Anarchism and Other Essays)

IMO haiku are not about words, but images

8) Write a haiku involving this image, but *not* this word:

- ARROW

and tag it: #imagiku 8 #haiku
= and FOLLOW #imagiku AND @imagiku

over to you …
and boost this, & responses!

My personal view of Haiku https://clover.serveblog.net/w0dz/so-what-is-haiku

My subs: (eventually) clover.serveblog.net/w0dz/imagiku-arrow

This is not a DAILY prompt.

Frozen and still in ice,
under the crystalline moon.
Frosted rocks suspended,
waiting for the warmth of the sun.
A sliver of light,
pale in the east.
A line of division,
chasing away the colourless night.

All kinds of things
Can be
#Reclaimed
Lands
Words
Wounds
There is no
Shame
In having been
Hurt
The world
Cuts us all
In different
Ways
There is nothing
Wrong
With looking
At a
Scar
And saying
"I survived that day
And here I still am, today"
This is not the kind
Of pride
That goes before
A fall
This is the kind
That it was
Meant for

I asked #chatgpt to write a new stanza based on Kubla Khan :

n Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A pleasure-dome beyond compare,
With walls and towers stretching on
To capture the imaginations there.
Within its gates, a paradise
Of gardens, forests, and winding streams,
And there beneath the azure skies,
The emperor dreamed his wondrous dreams.

But in the shadow of that dome
Lurked secrets dark and strange to tell,
A place where shadows roamed
And whispered secrets of a hell.
Beneath the cedars' heavy boughs,
Where moonbeams fell like silver rain,
The emperor heard a voice that howled,
A sound that chilled his very brain.

And so it was that Kubla heard
The voices of the ancients rise,
Whispering of the bloody sword
And of the war that never dies.
But he refused to heed their cries,
The warnings of the restless dead,
And so his kingdom met its demise,
In the blood that his own hands had shed.

My latest short story has some satirical touches (okay, dollops).

I may have chosen too easy a target, but I was in a hurry to publish it – an irony in itself.

Back in October & November I participated in a Nature Writing workshop. On one of our earliest sessions we walked to the Irish Hunger Memorial in Battery Park City and it inspired a poem. You can read it on my blog.

Our creative work is the proof that we have survived the harshest seasons. The diminishing daylight. The shifts into the dark. That we taught our cells to tolerate the cold. That even in the slow dormancy we have never stopped working. We learned to make a flower. A candy liquid. A shielded seed desperate to be sown. Our determination to persevere...

thinking perhaps you have
perambulated into the penumbra of your

your legs haven’t the length to
outpace the shadow
your lungs haven’t the breath to bear
its grave pressure
so you put down your pen as the dark

flamingos are pink
a lengthy proposition
The truth a dull gray.

These birds aren't actually pink.
Born gray, their food choices tinge their feathers its characteristic shade. I use creative license. ;)

Gipsies believe their dead folk change
Into wild flowers, ever to range
Along the trails.

So, when you pass, give them a greeting--
Their beauty like your own is fleeting,
And, too, belongs to God, my sweeting.

Pogonophobia - the fear of beards

pog·o·no·pho·bi·a
/ˌpōɡənəˈfōbēə/ noun

The term pogonophobia is derived from the Greek words pogon (πώγων) for "beard" and phobos (φόβος) for "fear." Its antonym would be "pogonophilia", that is the love of beards or bearded persons.
