"Capricorn One" from 1977 - starring James Brolin, Hal Holbrook & a bunch of other big (at the time) names - holds up very well as a tight conspiracy action thriller, but it's the little things, like the badass score by Jerry Goldsmith, or the rapid-fire snark dialogue, that lift it up to true classic status.
My personal favorite part is the moving, poignant "Kay reads Charles Jr.'s essay" scene, which Brenda Vaccaro friggin' nails...! 😢

I was watching a video about alt. history timeline, and this one pops up. It's a very fun scenario to think about how things would change if the #Nintendo SNES-CD actually happened with Sony.
This vid. only explains an abridged version, but the entire rewrite of #PopCulture is MASSIVE.
Some good points to mention are:
- Nintendo releasing the Ultra 64 with Sony tech
- Avril Lavigne dedicating her life to skateboard instead of music
- James Cameron making a #Metroid movie and Tarantino directing Godzilla 98
- The Secret of Monkey Island is ported to the SNES-CD with additional content, becoming the more popular version.

The Hollywood sign turns 100 this year, originally built as an advertisement for a housing tract development, (it used have lights and blink "Holly" then "Wood" then "Land" then "Hollywoodland"), it's refurbishment in 1978 was funded by private donors following a campaign by Hugh Heffner to have it preserved as a landmark.

I would wager that 99.44% of you wouldn't last a month of consuming those stories with the same degree of interest and ardour that you consume #PopCulture. It's too alien. It's literally #alienating to you. There may be some intrigue that drives interest for a while, but that will peter out into confusion and ennui in no time flat.
That's why there's that call for #representation and that's why stories are generally in a setting that's familiar.
There's a term for that: status quo.

One popular contemporary sitcom is "Superstore", about a group of colleagues at "Cloud 9" (Walmart/Target). Also time-porn. We almost exclusively see them at work. In order to spend this much time together, that's the only credible scenario.
