A tiny linocut I made a few years ago: the red-legged grasshopper.
One of the most common grasshoppers in NA, these are the most commonly seen grasshoppers in the NE US & S Canada. Reddish-brown on their backs, yellow-green below, they are named for their orangy-red legs. In high-density, these grasshoppers can be considered a garden or agricultural pest who eat grain.

My #linocut #tiger for #GlobalTigerDay. Habitat loss is a great threat to these great cats. They are endangered after a century of decline and only about 4,500 remain in the wild. The good news is there are signs of an uptick in numbers globally but the need for habitat preservation is urgent.

I’ve become a member of the Mackenzie Print Group. They operate out of the historic Mackenzie Printery in Niagara. I have no experience with letterpress, but I’m excited to learn about it from the other members. I may be able to use some of the presses to print my art as well!

So we did see a moose, in New Brunswick, though it had no antlers and it bolted before we could get a photo, so instead, enjoy this linocut I made on delicate translucent washi.
Hilariously the moose was standing in a farmer’s field but when we stopped on the highway to look at the large dark quadruped in the woods behind the moose safety fence, it was a lost cow.

The blue one is “Beacon” and the yellow one is “Bright”.
I started messing around with water-based fluorescent inks for these. I like the colour, but they were a bit difficult to work with.

This one started out as a just an experiment in contrast. It was going to be one skull, and then I kept adding more. I really like how this piece turned out. This was also the first time I tried lino after learning with the pink rubber. I jump back and forth now.

For this one I decided I wanted a figure and a fisheye distortion. I found the reference on Pinterest and added in the radial pattern. It’s carved on Speedball speedycarve rubber and is about 6”x6”. The blue splatter was an experiment, I think it’s fun :)
