#Advice needed from the #hivemind: what is a simple, low config #CRM/ #workflow tool to catalogue all of the conversations I’ve had, set follow-up reminders, track interviews and feedback, etc?
I’ve contemplated using #trello or #asana … but I’m looking for really basic functionality. More than iOS native apps or o365 can deliver.
In a corporate function, I’d use #teams with #project cards and kanban queues. But that’s not an option for personal #o365 accounts. Or a real CRM.

A Drupal Backend developer should have a delicate balance between writing code and site-building skills.
They should know when to use existing entity types (content type, taxonomy etc.), when to create new entity types, and when to extend the existing ones.
They should know when to add a new field, re-use created ones, and develop their field type and formatter or develop just a formatter for the existing field.
They should know when to use existing views by creating a new display mode, creating unique views, or displaying the results using custom queries.
They should know when to use a contributed module, when to extend them and when to build it afresh.
And the list goes on...
If someone is better than one thing and not the other, project architecture and codebase become a mess in a few years, and then technology is blamed.

Been a little quiet this past week. I've been busy leveling up my react skills and building a really solid full-stack portfolio project that's been pushing me to my current limits. Spent most of yesterday debugging some issues related to an adapter and am extending NextAuth library a bit to create additional functionality in my application. I really really love coding. I'll be doing this for the rest of my life for sure.

As Old English became Middle and eventually Modern English, it took on a lot of influence from French, especially lexically. However, it mostly ends there. The creation of Middle English was far from creolization.
I was thinking about it though, what would an #oldenglish / #oldfrench #creole look like?
Well after studying the grammars, working out how a pidgin might form from immersion, and extrapolating that to a creole, I've developed a few sentences in this new #conlang #project (1/4)
Last weekend I mounted an @adafruit VL6180X distance sensor underneath the grow platform. It uses a laser to measure how far away the surface of the water is, and then I subtract that from the height to determine how full the tank is.
I previously tried this with a RCWL-9620 ultrasonic distance sensor, however condensation would start to build up on the speaker grills and produce inaccurate readings. Hopefully the laser will be more accurate in this environment!
I've also started to use the built-in status LED to indicate when it's time to add nutrients and when the water level is low.

I may change the German name of te book into #Grimmwald. A play on grim/Brothers Grimm, as content and imagery of the book deal with the enchanted/fairytale aspects of forests as well as their eerie aspects.

This weekend I added a TVOC/eCO2 sensor (SGP30) and made some improvements to the #HomeAssistant dashboard.
I also accidentally ordered way too many Grove connector cables, I didn't realize they came in packs of 5 cables. I assumed the quantity was for individual cables 😅 I guess I'll have to start thinking of some more ESP32 projects to tinker with in the future.

I’m going to try ignoring the ‘writing stuff for the #blog while being honest & vulnerable’ part by focusing on all the steps needed to finish the site (breaking a #project into steps & focusing on one step works for me).
And by jotting down potentially fun but complicating ideas (T shirts! A forum! A Discord server!) that can help me procrastinate the completion in my task manager (#Todoist) to get them out of my head (re: #ZeigarnikEffect).

Over the weekend, I converted my garden monitoring microcontroller from #MicroPython to #ESPHome.
The controller is a M5StickC-Plus with a temperature, humidity, air pressure sensors, and IR thermometer attached via I²C. The button on the front records the timestamp when plant food is added. #HomeAssistant adjusts the LCD backlight automatically using a nearby motion sensor.

Narrat 🐀 has been getting a bit of attention again so here's another intro of the engine. I think most people who might be interested in this don't actually know about it so I'm hoping to reach more people for once.
Narrat is a game engine I created to easily make interactive fiction games (narrative RPGs, visual novels etc) for desktop or browser.
I’ve worked on this game engine for some time, mostly to help friends make their games. It’s been used on a few small games, and some bigger ones in progress.

We've done this already and even have ported it into real life.

I had a funny #project idea today:
Recology (San Francisco recycling/compost) has a neat site with "what goes where" and, honestly, I don't know as much as I should!
So my thought: a tiny Mastodon #bot that
- Posts an item (say, wax paper)
- Posts a reply with a CW (so, hides content) of the answer of where it goes (compost, recycling, trash)
These little things, little programmable attention bots, really appeal to me.

Once the walls, windows, and doors were done I was happy to find a whole bunch of IKEA models on the 3D Warehouse by SketchUp.
Downloaded and imported a bunch of .dae files - then we were free to play around in the different perspectives and try to make it all fit.
A huge improvement from when I started this with random coloured cuboids😅
