Prop pistol for my Assassin's Creed IV cosplay for Comic Con. I'm super happy with how this came out.

It's fully 3D printed. The wooden parts were done on my Voron with wood filled PLA. Then sanded, painted faux wood grain, stained and varnished.

Metal parts were SLA printed. Then spray painted silver, darkened with an acrylic wash, and dry brushed metallic bronze for the highlights.

I feel I don't share enough of my crafts, I do crafts and DIY stuff as well, prop building included, this was for a friends wedding. Heck was that anxiety inducing! But I'm very honoured they picked me to create them this photo prop, they put some hay bails behind it so you could sit in the moon :)

I discovered, and played around with "d-id" which appears to combine #GPT3, #stableDiffusion, and an avatar animation engine. In minutes I whipped up this #TTRPG #prop video of an elf giving a party a magical blessing.

They appear to have a free trial plan needing only an email address which gives 20 credits to play with. Making this cost 2.

Well I missed #WorkbenchWednesday but I've got a new #Project #OnTheBench: I've started work on a Star Trek Voyage/DS9 type 2 phaser.

So far I've printed all the parts (bar the last button which is in the wash and cure station at the moment). Next step will be sand off and then putty all the support markings.

I have come to regard taxonomy as a completely bogus construct. As for location, just give every object a GUID and use that.

File names and folders no longer do it for me. I know that I have the Inventor model and plans for my TARDIS somewhere on the NAS. But I did them seven years ago and I have dozens of folders with inventor files.

Folders force me to think about the hardware layer, which drive did I put something on? This is all stuff that should be handled automatically.

So what I really want is a fast label based search. And of course Windows, macOS and Linux are all equally hopeless. They don't have the affordances on save file for a start.

If I had saved the files with the #DRWHO#TARDIS and #prop labels. I could find them in seconds (if the UI was so stupid and didn't freeze to search the disks all the time, I have 220TB of data you stupid stupid machine).

The difference between folders and labels as I see it are that as currently implemented, folders are constrained terms in the UI, you either use an existing one or consciously create a new one. Labels are usually freeform. So I might have saved the plans as #TARDIS or #TENNANT-TARDIS
