A rare day for me: spent most of it trying to optimise a workflow for extracting #epidemiological data stored in an #Excel workbook into #R to convert into interactive visuals and summaries with useful narratives.
Managed to get a series of worksheets stored as a list of data frames (and tibbles), subset some data into a table with {DT} package, and a {ggplot} barchart.

@connect_icut @vinylrecords Got me wondering what my #lastfm recently ranked artists would be, had I used it: Maybe #R.A.P.Ferreira? #AntonWebern perhaps? Probably #TheClash, they are always at the ready round these parts.
But anyway - surprised to see #TheYoungGods on your list! They were on my radar in the 80s, initially because The Swans Young God EP left such a deep cleft in my brain. But I did like their early records a lot. Didn't realise they've released like a dozen more albums since.

I like the idea of seeing both languages in a symbiosis, where each language has its specific superpowers that you can rely on. What would the world be without the flexibility (and the incredible expansion of packages) that comes with ggplot in #R or the universe of huggingface in #Python?

I'm deeply passionate about how R and Python can live in harmony. Working in teams using both, you learn about their benefits and challenges. Many packages are natively available for both languages; if one is missing, there are often wrappers. But thatโs not all - instead of relying on wrappers, tools like rpy2 or reticulate make switching between the two languages easy.
