Today we said goodbye to our little rabbit Bob. She was a very good age (10-11ish) but was suffering with arthritis and various other ailments, so we made the decision we felt we had to make. Such a great little personality, and those big brown eyes! ❤️

I mentioned Flapjack, our first rabbit, was good at getting into trouble. He'd sneak away - upstairs even - without us noticing.
So we got him a collar, with a little bell on it. Then when he was hopping up stairs behind us, we could hear him...
Our local rabbits (we have a lot of them around!) have gone back into hiding with the dump of snow we got. But I expect to see them again soon now that we've thawed out.

Well, due to lots of work from @fuzzybumble and fluffy daughter our rabbit Willow is back, bouncing around and destroying things. One UTI and she stopped eating. Vets were very good indeed.
re: volunteering at the SPCA, we used to socialize and take outdoors all of the rabbits that happened to be in the shelter whenever we were there.
I don't have many photos from that time, but I had borrowed a friend's camera for other reasons that weekend, and took a few of this fellow.
This is what a bunny looks like when you take him out of a tiny steel jail cell in a noisy room full of animal smells, and let him hop around in the snow and sunlight.
Finally, a short video of Lena. She's tough to corral in one spot and won't sit still.
As you can see, she's begging for the treats I have. Well, it's more like a mugging than a begging...

There is sometimes a very wide disconnect between just how cute and innocent a house rabbit can look, versus the unspeakable evil that lives within them.
Lola was extremely good at looking innocent. Luckily for us, she was lousy at the evil part.

Sometimes when you try to capture a bunny, they fail to cooperate, leading to pictures like this.
This is Chester, our foster bunny. The shelter says he is from "the streets". I can't help but visualize him in a retro 80's, post apocalyptic, Detroit hellscape, warming himself at night in front of one of the ubiquitous trashcan fires, with like, a leather jacket and a switch blade. #RabbitsOfMastodon

There's something just incredibly cute and comforting about a bunny sitting or walking across your feet. Like someone gently laying a blanket on you.
Maybe because their weight is spread across their big feet, and their feet are soft and fluffy? It's not like when a dog or cat walks on you, with all their weight seeming to compress on one single pad of one foot.
I couldn't get a picture of him on my foot. I had a chicken in my arms at the time 😆

An early favorite shot, when there was some fortuitously timed snow. (I'd be cursing it a month later, but that's another story) They'd largely stayed inside for a couple days, understandably unimpressed with the turn of the weather, but soon were back to normal. =:)
And a bit more recently, this new mother, back in February. It can be a difficult life, out in the wild, not only having to gather nesting for one's newborn (or expected) kits, but also having to evade aggressors..
