In a previous post “What to do About My Old Blogs” I explained that I had two old blogs which I had previously stopped using prior to creating this blog I’m on now, I stated that I didn’t know what to do with them, one of the options was to delete them. Well I’m not going to delete them, I’m going to use them instead.
The old sites were “Pop’s Alternative Computing” and “Pop’s Pic’s Words of Wisdom“, I am going to choose new directions for these two blogs and they will co-exist alongside this blog “Pop’s the Passive Voyeur’s Blog“.
Pop’s the Passive Voyeurs Blog.
This blog, yes the one you’re on right now “Pop’s the Passive Voyeur’s Blog” will remain my main, prime blog and website, it will still be the central hub of my online presences, the other two blogs will be satellites to this blog. The names and uses for these other sites will be changed, just a bit, they may not get as much use as this site, as I said this will remain my main site.
This blog, yes the one you’re on right now “Pop’s the Passive Voyeur’s Blog” is connected to my Facebook page and automatically publishes to that page, it will also contain posts on any subject, be they nice and safe or sensitive, dark and seedy, it is after all the blog of a “Passive Voyeur” isn’t it, so anything goes.
Pop’s Safe Haven.
Meanwhile “Pop’s Pic’s Words of Wisdom” has become “Pop’s Safe Haven“, it will be a safe and friendly space, I will publish posts from “Pop’s Safe Haven” to my Facebook Profile and there won’t be any sensitive or dark and seedy posts on “Safe Haven”, it will be all nice and safe, my FB profile is mainly for friends and family (although some chosen few from the internet are included) so as it’s for such an audience things will be kept a little more sanitised 😊
There will be crossovers between “Safe Haven” and “Passive Voyeur” of course it’s unavoidable, a fair bit of what’s on “Passive Voyeur” will also appear on “Safe Haven” (some of the safer stuff obviously) while occasionally it may flow in the opposite direction as well. OK so it may seem redundant having two blogs with a fair bit of the same stuff on, but they are catering for different audiences, “Passive Voyeur” is meant for pretty much anyone while “Safe Haven” is meant for my FB profile audience some of whom I don’t want to be directly linked to some of the posts and information on “Passive Voyeur”.
Pop’s Tech and Computing Blog.
“Pop’s Alternative Computing” has become “Pop’s Tech and Computing Blog” and it’s going to be a not terribly tech blog about slightly tech things, now I’m not very tech savvy, I have a little knowledge regarding computers and tech things, very little, but I know some of the basics. So on “Pop’s Tech and Computing Blog” I will post any stuff about computing, Linux, ChromeOS, the Fediverse, in fact anything that’s a bit technical or about tech gadgets. It will be about my experiences, good and bad, on the tech and computing side of things. Like I said I’m no tech genius, the posts on that blog will be very much authored by a layman so don’t expect to find anything very clever, just my experiences, observances and thoughts on these mysterious and sometimes baffling subjects 😁
Both “Pop’s Safe Haven” and “Pop’s Tech and Computing Blog” are available now although both are undergoing little ongoing modifications, “Safe Haven” still has quite a few old posts on it from it’s past life, although I have removed any that needed removing, while “Tech and Computing” has had all of it’s old posts deleted.
All three of these blogs are on the same WordPress account so I follow the same authors on all of them and they all appear on the WordPress Reader, so I guess each of you can follow whichever site or sites you wish to follow and only see the posts from that or those particular ones in your reader 😁👍

Girls math is going to the bookshop cause there is one book discounted at 35%, but buying two more, so now each book has a discount is 10% and I save money from another trip to it.
I am programmed to rise early and go to bed relatively early - was as a child, remained so throughout my life even when working hard and late. Morning is my best writing time. (I could write in the evening when younger.)

Following several weeks of digital housekeeping, I’m determined to do a better job about being consistent about where I’m storing links, online articles, resources and various “read later” type stuff.
My tools of choice are Readwise Reader and Shaarli. I’ve been pretty lax about what goes where so I spent some time thinking about how I should be leveraging these two tools.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Shaarli:
Description – The personal, minimalist, super fast, database-free, bookmarking service. Do you want to share the links you discover? Shaarli is a minimalist link sharing service that you can install on your own server. It is designed to be personal (single-user), fast and handy.
- Strengths:
- Preservation of the original source.
- Archiving capability with tools like the Wayback Machine.
- Easy to surface old links.
- Quick bookmarking for future reference.
- Weaknesses:
- Less interactive than Reader.
- No native feature for highlighting or making notes.
Reader:
Description: Readwise Reader is the first read-it-later app built specifically for power readers. If you’ve ever used Instapaper or Pocket, Reader is like those except it’s built for 2023 and brings all your reading into one place including: web articles, email newsletters, RSS feeds, Twitter threads, PDFs, EPUBs and more.
- Strengths:
- Active engagement with content through reading, highlighting, and making notes.
- Email feature to reinforce and recall highlighted content.
- Distraction-free reading experience.
- Weaknesses:
- Doesn’t preserve the original source, only a text extract.

(Unless you've got a killer wig to wear while reading it,) but it does have rich people in it getting their sheepy comeuppance. And reading that could make you very happy, at least for a day!
