The #Senate Committee on #Indigenous Peoples sat to hear from organizations that had yet to submit all #residentialschool records to the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR).
Canada has identified 23 million additional #documents, said an assistant deputy minister.
It’s awaiting guidance from the NCTR documents advisory committee on how to proceed on accelerating the process of transfer.

This was one of the #LP #Records from last night's foray to #RecordCollectorsParadise
The copy they had in the bins was great physically (and a UK pressing), but for me, part of the attraction was the seminal cover.
The UK cover was thin and water-damaged.
So they rooted around in the back-of-house storage and found a physically great (Canadian) version with the cover still in shrink. #Vinyl Win!

I can use a light microscope to see how the stereo data is encoded into the grooves.
An SEM can show the individual magnetic particles that make-up the tape, but then what?
a design for yet another idea of mine that may never get off the ground: a music-based befriending club for housebound people to spend a bit of time with another person sharing their favourite music.

The all time, all station, record for August 16 is 37.2ºC set on this day in 1927 at the original Port Alberni station (in the City). The forecast is for a high of 36 today. We'll see if we'll beat that, and the record. Yesterday the Airport reached 38.7ºC which was less than 1 degree from breaking 39.4ºC set in 1933 also at the Port Alberni City station. August 12th is National Vinyl Record Day (apparently) so I grabbed all the vinyl I could find in my house. It's not a lot. I used to have many crates full. But after many moves, I thinned the collection down to nearly nothing, as I do digital music mostly now (I have no turntable anymore either). But sometimes, I grab a couple. Bought the bottom row here recently. Odd I can't find my copy of Telekon. Pretty sure I still have that one somewhere. I hope so. And wow, I have two copies of Green Thoughts, one signed, one not. Check out that picture disc. I should get better photos of it eventually. It's rad.

Picked up this 2021 reissue of David Wiffen's 1965 album, At The Bunkhouse Coffeehouse. What a voice David had back then; deep, rich and dripping with maple syrup.
