Greg booked his ticket, and will be staying for 3 months.
He arrives on the 9th June, which will be a couple of days after we move, because we're signing the lease on 29th May.
His birthday is on the 12th June, so we'll be able to spend thwt together (something we've done each year, except for the years that the borders were closed). I've booked 3 days/2 nights at a cabin thr the Blue Mountains as a surprise... it looks amazing, completely isolated and surrounded by trees. I hope he likes it. It'll be our first time going away just by ourselves for fun. We've gone away with other people (Venice with his wife and her husband etc) or we've stayed in a hotel room the night before he's flown home.. but not just by ourselves for fun.

Greg's visiting time in Australia was always dictated by his work. They let him work remotely for up to 6 weeks (this was initially promised to him when he agreed to the job, and they tried everything to lie and renege on that promise) so his visit each year was 6 weeks.
Things have happened over the last month so that this constraint isn't in play anymore, and the length of his visit is only dictated by the 90 visa limit.. so he can spend 3 months here.
I was looking forward to having him here in person for that long.. my best friend is visiting from the US for a week in August, so I'll be able to spend time with them both. And I'll be able to relax into the time that we're together, instead of just counting down until Greg leaves.
However, Greg's wife has told him that if he comes to visit for 3 months, she's worried that her "brain will delete [him] from her life". She's basically given him an ultimatum that if he visits for any longer than 8 weeks, their relationship will be over when he gets back.
I'm so angry with her for putting him in a position where he has to choose like this. Because of he chooses not to come for the 3 months, even though I get it and I understand why.. it's going to damage the trust I have in him.
I also hurt because I thought that she was my friend too.
I don't know what to do. I'm trying to be compassionate and I'm trying to be kind.. but she's causing so much harm by doing this.
One of the hardest things about non-monogamy is when your partners other relationships are hitting bumps.. you can see the harm and hurt, but can't really do anything other than play a support class.

I've been learning a lot about #narcissism lately because of the fact that my last #abuser was a #covert #narcissist.
I've also been well aware of how extensively I was used as a #bulldog and as a #sledgehammer. My abuser would #gaslight and #guilt me into attacking other folks that I had no issue with because they were hurt by the #target (either today or 20 years ago) and deserved some sort of #punishment.
Today I finally found some #insight into my role as a self-serving #enabler, a person who enables others' narcissistic #abuse because, although I too was being #abused (and pretty fucking badly), I received some benefit from the relationship with the narcissist that led me not only to stay but also to throw others under the bus in order to maintain that #toxic #relationship. All because of that perceived benefit.
I'd say "I feel attacked," but I'm taking this pretty seriously because it's a pattern I replayed with my mother earlier in life, enabling her grandiose narcissism by attacking the people who "hurt" her.
What benefit, then, was so important that I was willing to sell my soul for it? My abuser gave me a lot of #attention during a time when I felt incredibly #alone. My abuser also curated and eagerly moderated my relationships with their #friends and #family. And when I didn't or couldn't behave by their standards, they pulled away, often taking their friends and family with them and #isolating me in a state where I didn't really have the #spoons left (due to the #abuse) to build any relationships away from them.
My abuser used this power to great effect once I decided I was no longer tolerating or #enabling their behavior, cutting me off from everyone I'd known and cared about and #lying about their abuse of me, claiming instead that I was the abuser and they the #victim (they've had a long-standing pattern of #victimization by practically everyone in their life, whether or not these people were actually #abusive).
It took a very, very long time to rid myself of the now-#internalized belief that I was to #blame for everything that had happened to me, and I couldn't have done it without my friends and the #mental #health #professionals that treated me.
Having been responsible for hurting so many others because of my fear of losing all of the social connections and relationships that my abuser moderated sucks to know. I've apologized to some of the folks I hurt in my enabling of my abusers narcissistic abuse of others, but there's many more who I'll never get the chance to apologize to. And these folks have the absolute right to not want me in their lives ever again. Enablers are awful people sometimes, and I was pretty fucking awful when my abuser demanded it. I can #empathize with myself, but none of this excuses me, and I am owed nothing by those I've hurt for my own benefit within a toxic relationship.
I don't know when, if ever, I'll be able to wholly #forgive myself either. Maybe one day, but only by keeping the energy I have now and continuing to #grow as the person I've decided to be going forward, during this novel (for me) absence of narcissists in my life. And by making amends by raising up and serving those around me now to the best of my ability.
#Healing is a long, painful road, and it's hard to imagine what its end may look like. Maybe it never reaches one. I can live with that.
I’ve been finding so many things to be #salty about. Recently-discovered NFS mounts are low on that list. Higher on the list is throwing random crap over the wall at my team only for us to politely but firmly ask if you have done your due #diligence (spoiler alert, you haven’t) and then point out the exact line of code in your own repository that could solve the problem. Our #relationship with that line of business has #regressed like running last year’s code against this year’s test suite.

Greg and I are both phobic about dentists and hate going, we both end up shaky and weepy after visiting the dentist.
We're talking about how one of the ways we can care for each other is to schedule our yearly dental visits when the other of us is visiting.. so his when I'm in the UK, and mine when he's in Australia.
That way we can bundle each other up in blankets and hugs afterwards, and take care of each other for being brave and doing the thing even though it's scary.
Sometimes #LDR can have helpful consequences.

I'm fat.
I mentioned to Greg this morning that I'd lost almost 5kg in the 3 weeks that I've been in the UK with him, and his response was "oh my god, baby! Are you OK? We can feed you more food!"
I hadn't been mentioning it for any specific reason, other than to remark on it. But it was fucking NICE to not have him respond with congratulations, and for him to move straight into recognising that weight lose isn't automatically a good thing and often is indicative of health issues. That's not something fat people are often met with.
Also, 5kg in 3 weeks isn't a big change for me. My weight yo-yos any time I'm going through change.. and it's not surprising me that I've lost that much with all the sex and kink play I've been having.
Ideally, I'd like to drop a little bit more and get to 100kg, because my body feels it's strongest and fittest then. And I like when my body feels strong and fit.

I made my roast chicken pie for dinner the other night, and Z (Greg's wife) absolutely LOVED it. I knew Greg loved it, I've made it for him before.
I told Greg yesterday that I'd had the idea to make it with sage and tarragon dumplings on top, instead of the pastry pie lid.. because safe and tarragon pair really well with chicken. He mentioned that G (Z's other husband) loves dumplings, so we're planning on inviting him for dinner so I can cook for everyone.
I'm super excited about this (and more than a little nervous, but being nervous is ok).
Z was saying yesterday evening when she got home from work that it's delightful to come home to both of us in the house together.. I think that she feels much more comfortable with me actually being here and sharing space than when I'm online with Greg and only sharing attention - because I'm not just a disembodied voice she needs to try and be aware of.
Anyways, I'm enjoying the friendship we're building together. She's amazing, funny, insightful, and vibrant.. and as sharp as a switchblade. I definitely see why Greg is in love with her.

Today we went to Costco and walked around a shopping centre.
I drive to Sydney every few months to do a Costco shop in an effort to save money any way we can. It was interesting to see what Costco was like in the UK (the exact same, down to the layout of the store!). We were also doing a recon run to take pictures of prices and report back to Greg's wife (Z) so she, Greg and her other husband can decide whether it's worth them getting a membership as well.
We picked up a few things, including a tray of baklava for my birthday party on Saturday and a bag of sriracha covered almonds to take back to Australia for my housemate. I had a Costco hotdog, because I love them.. although the ones in the Australian Costco are nicer, this was still yum though. Greg stood in line for ages to get our food, while I sat and rested my back.
Then we went for a wander around Lakeside shopping centre, and I was able to pick up some bits and pieces I needed as well as a new drink bottle that I definitely didn't need but was on sale (it's covered with cartoon cats!)
Greg lined up to get me a bubble tea (rose and peach fruit tea with peach popping boba), and then we drove home.
It was a fun day, and I enjoyed not only seeing the little differences between Australia and the UK, but also just loved spending time together doing everyday things.

@ben as an #extroverted #introvert (I suspect there are many like me), the value I get from #office spaces is social: #coffee, #lunch, and happy hour. During those venues, I engage in (what I’ve since learned is) a form of dialectical #behavioral therapy: talking out the problem with a team of colleagues 1:1 or in a group.
50% of the convo is getting to #consensus, clarifying and identifying the problem, and the other half is personal #relationship and #network building.
This assumes a peer-to-peer #conversation — a #relationship that's already established common interests and mutual respect. It assumes a relationship both sides want to protect, nurture, and maintain.
If someone with more power, resources, or clout becomes chronically upset and defensive *any* time someone with less power or reach points out flaws in the majoritarian argument...
Well, I wouldn't call that dynamic devil's advocacy.
That's just advocacy.
