It wasn't minor, but something I was going to need my insurance for, and you hope it is there when this happens.

The contractor still hasn't started.
The insurance pays out up to one year after the damage, and it's past the year. Now I'm doing it.

My car has been in the shop since Wednesday. Took it in because it was idling rough on start and smoke was coming out the tailpipe. Turns out I need a new engine. Due to a design flaw introduced by Ford in their EcoBoost engines 2015-2019, the coolant sometimes leaks into the cylinders as the walls are too thin and crack under pressure. Luckily I have insurance in place which will cover a replacement 100% but it was close to running out. #Cars #Repairs #Ford

I truly dislike having to own a car because mass transit in our immediate area sucks. I especially dislike having to maintain that car as it feels like wasting money and effort on something I wish I didn't have.

Context: dropped car off at the mechanic and have a few hundreds less in our bank account. Repairs are necessary, but I would have much preferred living in a walkable neighborhood with good mass transit. But I don't have enough money for that.

I love watching YouTube videos of someone who #repairs and #refurbishes random #antiques or #electronics. And I typically avoid video media formats. But what I don't understand is how one person has such a wide berth of restorative knowledge. #TIL #Kohler has completely changed their #bathroom #faucet fittings. Needed to order a whole faucet set since individual parts were not available. Thought I could replace a single faucet handle, but the incompatible parts required me to change out both faucet handles and the sink spout. What I thought would be a 20-30 minute job turned into several hours as the second faucet handle took forever to get off. Ugh, I really dislike #plumbing #repairs .

Now I'm talking about #guitar #repairs anyway: this was a fun project, a #Hagström Super Swede from a guy who tried to wire/rewire the thing himself. Didn't end well.

When I found out that wiring changed color 3 times before it entered the next cavity, I didn't bother fixing it in this state. I cut all the wiring, threw it away, downloaded the #schematics and started all over.

On a positive note: the old wiring was rated for 600 Volts.

I do #guitar #setups and #repairs now and then, for friends only. One of these friends loved the sound and playability of one of my own #guitars, a simple and quite old #Yamaha RGX-112P.

But my guitar was not for sale, so I looked around for one. After a while I found one online with the following text above the picture:

@ifixcoinops Here's the offending board and switch removed. I don't know how to test this switch as I can't find a spec sheet on it anywhere. OP3830 is the switch ID. I don't see any dirt or gunk on it. Testing in-machine showed the other 2 switches working fine. #hyperball #pinball #repairs
