Finally, we ended our visit at "Latitude 28." After book shopping, we really just wanted a simple coffee and maybe a dessert. We tried three places but found them crowded or not worth the money (this is Khan Market after all). We decided to try a place nether of us have tried. This quiet restaurant is at the top floor of a home goods store. Quiet, pretty, and with decent coffee, it was the perfect way to end our day!

We had a strong Irani chai, a Bombay Sandwich (in @seanbala's opinion, one of the greatest culinary gifts to mankind) and a raspberry soda.

An Irani Chai is like a normal Indian chai but made much stronger.

The Bombay Sandwich is a thick grilled vegetable sandwich with very thinly sliced beets, potatoes, cucumbers, and tomatoes, all sprinkled with a big helping of cheese. Difficult to make, impossible not to eat!

Our first stop was Sodabottleopenerwalla - a loving, playful homage to the Parsi cafes of Mumbai. The Parsis are a Zoroastrian community that came to India in the 16th century. Centered mainly in Mumbai, this small community has punched well above its weight. One business that many of them started were cafes the feature unique Indian and Iranian dishes.

As you can see from the sign, the restaurant has a unique sense of humor.

Me: "Vegan means no animal products. Like... no milk, no eggs and obviously no meat"
Man: "Yes, we have this and this [starts babbling about the menu and I had repeatedly explain that milk is not vegan and I lost patience at some point and ordered something]"
Me: "Okay, I would like to have Falafel in a pita bread and some veggies and fries"
Man: "What sauce do you want?"
Me: "Do you have vegan sauce with garlic?" [I explicitly put the word "vegan" there, because many people forget after 3 seconds that I am vegan.]
Man: "Yes, this one!"
Me: "Is it vegan?"
Man: "Yes"
Me: "What's inside, because it looks really white?"
Man: "Garlic, Yogurt, ...."
Me: "Stop! Stop! Stop! You said it's vegan"
Man: "It is!"
Me: "How can you even think it's vegan, if Yogurt is inside? A few seconds ago I told you several times, that milk is not vegan and you keep trying to put it on my meal"
Man: "There is no milk inside!"

...

After we both were pissed of, I told him to just make it a little bit spicy without any sauce, because he might spit into my food, if I keep trying to provide knowledge.

I am loosing faith, because it's just ridiculous to explain someone something who should know more about it.

Imagine you go to a car mechanics and have to explain that your car runs on batteries and doesn't need fossil fuels, but they keep trying to put petrol into your car and after you explain it several times, they get aggressive and want to put the petrol in your car no matter what...

My current pet peeve:

Person who booked a restaurant reservation for us: “there’s lots of #vegan options for you!”

I get to the restaurant and look at the menu:

There’s a chickpea curry or a vegan burger 🤦🏻‍♂️

Meanwhile on the main menu there are about 20 different types of meat and fish dishes.

Restaurants: do better!!
