This is a CD containing a Kodak "Business Game", released in ~1998, for MacOS.

The "game" involves various videos and text documentation relating to Kodak and it's business practices. It's presented in #Swedish, #Norwegian, #Finnish, and #Danish.

Pas mal de progrès ce soir, j'ai une image stable en 640*200 2 couleurs ! Il reste encore des petits détails à régler mais le circuit tel qu'il est peut déjà gérer du scrolling hardware horizontal/vertical et 3 modes videos (en interprétant un octet comme 8,4 ou 2 pixels respectivement de 2, 4 ou 16 couleurs). Bien sûr il faudra ajouter le RAMDAC pour voir les couleurs, mais pour ça il faut d'abord interfacer ce circuit avec la carte CPU.

Got a #retrocomputing puzzle.

In the mid-90s, I got heavily into TI-8x programming. By the time I got into Z80 ASM, I knew that the Game Boy used an almost identical CPU. I figured it had a higher clock speed.

Looked it up today, turns out the TIs were clocked faster. So, in ASM, what made the performance worse? I'm guessing it was the output system, because that's the place I most often called the OS.

Any other ideas?

Yesterday, I began reading the book The Apple II Age.

A couple chapters in, and so far, I'm really liking the detailed look of what went into mainstream computing, and how it went from mainly military application to consumer level, in great detail. I can't wait to dig deeper into it.

And I love the pixelated cover.

Neuzugang in der Sammlung. Eigentlich interessiert mich PC-Technik nicht so sehr, aber ein #Thinkpad von 1992 ist dann doch was besonderes, insbesondere wenn man die Geschichte des Gerätes in Betracht zieht. 😃

Das 300c ist das zweitälteste Thinkpad, hergestellt von Zentih Data Systems. 100000 Stück wurden gebaut. Schwarze Geräte waren Unternehmen vorbehalten, graue für den Einzelhandel.
Bei dem System gab es extreme Qualitätsmängel. Viele Geräte, genau genommen fast alle, waren Dead On Arrival und IBM musste massive Reparaturkampagnen starten. Deswegen hat man sich nach knapp einem Jahr von Zenith getrennt. Später mussten auch alle Akkus zurückgerufen werden.

CPU: Intel 80386SL 25MHz
RAM: 4MB Standard, 12MB max.
HDD: 80MB, später 120MB SCSI, max 504MB
Diskette: 1.44MB
Display: 9.5" 64 Graustufen, 640x480

Das Display konnte auf ein TFT-Display aufgerüstet werden.

Started to clean up the 6502 register/processor status code as it's been annoying the crap out of me. Figured a bit of `ctypes` action would help out with keeping values sane, and would greatly clean up all of the various flag operations. Just ordered a keyboard connector fixing kit for it. While it is not broken (yet), it makes removing and re-connecting the keyboard easier with no risk of causing damage.

Following the helpful instructions (https://biosrhythm.com/?p=2688) and copy of the Mini vMac emulator provided by @paulrickards I've now got a #MacOS #emulator running on my Pocket CHiP computer.

It does seem to be pretty responsive though the screen size is a tiny bit smaller than the standard Mac displays, which can cause problems. Games seem to run fine, applications work as well as they would under #MinivMac and I just can't get over seeing the "Welcome to Macintosh" on this screen 🥰​

After 10 glorious years, my #iMac has finally reached the end of its life. A moment of silence for it. In 2013 I bought it maxed out and all my friends called me crazy. Above all, for the ssd which at the time were still very expensive and was a technology that “would not succeed”. 10 years later, all my friends have had multiple computers and I've never had to worry about a thing. They all have ssd drives today. 😆

So I'm now actively looking for a programming job on some kind of bizarre, possibly bespoke or ancient architecture.

Like, the place my Mom works is a COBOL shop on ancient (although well maintained) mainframes.

The code she's been allowed to show me is completely different from what I've done, even beyond that it's COBOL.

Learning something like that would be such a cool challenge!

(And I'd have excellent stories to tell other coders. ;) )
