Dragontorc es uno de estos juegos que dejan un buen recuerdo y son una mezcla entre arcade y aventura con muchos elementos de los juegos de rol.
Ambientado en la Gran Bretaña medieval tomaremos el papel de un poderoso mago que debe liberar a Merlín del encantamiento que lo tiene cautivo tras la desparición de las gemas del Dragontorc, enfrentarse al cambiante brujo Morag y restituir las joyas a su lugar.
80 personajes con los que interactuar en un mapa de más de 200 «habitaciones» y cientos de objetos garantizan horas de juego, conjuros y deducción.
Gráficamente está a la altura de lo que cabe esperar de un juego del #ZXSpectrum con unos decorados efectivos y personajes bien definidos.
Una delicia que recuerda mucho a los gandes clásicos de Ultimate.

Deva es un juego para #ZXSpectrum de Furillo Productions que como todos sus títulos destaca la originalidad de su argumento.
Has renacido como un deva, un ser iluminado que sigue los pasos de Buda. Shakra, el señor de los devas, te he enviado a Naraka, el infierno eterno, para que rompas todas las cadenas del sufrimiento de la Humanidad. Tu recompensa será la sabiduría que te hará ascender un nuevo paso del camino al Nirvana.
El infierno de Naraka tiene 10 niveles. Cada uno de ellos a su vez tiene tantos subniveles como el número actual del nivel. Así por ejemplo, el nivel 1 (el más fácil de todos) sólo tiene el subnivel 1, el nivel 2 tiene subniveles 2 y 1, etc… y finalmente el nivel 10 tiene los subniveles 10, 9, 8 … hasta el 1. Los demonios de Naraka están constantemente lanzando cadenas de sufrimiento a la Humanidad, y tú debes destruirlas. Hay cuatro tipos distintos de cadenas, cada una de un color distinto. Necesitas destruir como mínimo una de cada tipo para poder pasar al siguiente subnivel o nivel. Para acabar el juego, y alcanzar el Nirvana, debes acabar los 10 niveles completamente. Si lo haces, algo maravilloso sucederá.
El juego es desde luego diferente y aporta un soplo de aire fresco en cuanto a lo que a temática se refiere. Muy buena ambientación y dificultad justa para que sea adictivo pero no imposible.

Todos estamos de acuerdo en que Knight Lore supuso un antes y un después en la historia de los vídeojuegos. Sin embargo este título mítico no se editó en su día para el #Commodore64 privando a todos los usuarios de este ordenador de este gran título.
Esto por fin se ha solucionado…
Steven Day y el resto del equipo de Rod and Emu (Mariusz, que hizo las repeticiones y optimizaciones, Saul, que hizo la música increíble, y STE, que hizo la pantalla de carga) han completado la primera conversión íntegra de Z80 a 6502 de Knight Lore que incluye todas las características del juego del Spectrum, siendo ésta totalmente fiel al original. (El MOS 6510/8500 del C64 no dejaba de ser un 6502 modificado)

In 1992 our Commodore Amiga platform game Hoi was released worldwide on two 3.5 inch diskettes, but as the US-based publisher didn't pay the royalties, we decided to release an AGA chipset remix for free in 1993.

This one is Objective C++ and OpenGL, banished from the App Store for its lack of 64 bit-ness, but running here on an old iPad. Note the ‘classic’ & ‘enhanced’ modes. I did complete a 64 bit update of this, and even localized to French/German/Spanish, but then a job move and inertia set in. @thomzane on oldskool systems, #samples are a mess. hardware like the #NES has dedicated sample hardware called DPCM (delta PCM) or some people call it DMC, you get these 1-bit bitstreams that tell the waveform whether it goes up or down over time, and then the hardware can play that back without much resource drain. When you use #famitracker, you can just load a WAV into a slot and for the most part (barring memory limitations) it automagically prepares it for playback.
Two other ways to do samples on #retro (which are closer to what *modern* hardware does) are either (1) to play the lowest note on the hardware where the sound wave for the square wave "sticks" high or low, and vary the volume to the level of the samples, or (2) use PWM, where rather than varying the amplitude of the wave (which is how you'd visualize it on a scope) you use another 1-bit bitstream and the length of time spent on a high or a low would pull the speaker in that direction for that amount of time, and the amount of time is so incredibly small that the speaker might not make it all the way to the other extreme before it gets sent in the other direction by the opposite bit.
Duke NES'em 3D was one of the first NES #chiptunes I ever wrote, so the song was written in soundtracker, and I used a bunch of shell scripts and compilers to compile it into an NSF.
For the voices themselves, first I got Jon St. John (Duke Nukem Himself) to record the lines. Then, to be honest I did a whole lot of bumping around in the dark. I didn't really know what I was doing, other than that I knew the hardware wouldn't push out a full-quality WAV. I somehow found that using a 3-bit amplitude worked out really well. Reflecting, the octal thing was almost definitely a mistake, because that's 3-bit and the amplitude on the square waves can be 4-bit. Maybe I just mis-entered the bit depth to convert the WAV I got from Jon? There was some PWM employed as well because I then converted the sample data to a macro that would get pushed out of a square wave channel rather than the sample channel. It..... kinda worked out? If you think it sounds good, I probably just threw my hands in the air and said "good enough" because the voice was one of the last things I added to the track.
So there you go! My method is NOT the way I would recommend doing it, or the way most people do it these days, but that's how you get that exact result.
