Not sure if it's related to the fact that I've been a lot more active (hiking up actual mountains, moving firewood for 1.5 hours, that sort of thing) or if it's the weather or if this #autoimmune disorder (probably #RheumatoidArthritis but possibly #PsoriaticArthritis the symptoms and treatments are almost identical) just is doing it's fucked up misery bullshit, but I'm in so much pain I honestly want to cry a lot of the time.

It’s a little bit empowering to find some techniques that make #methotrexate side effects more tolerable. One of the worst parts about autoimmune disease is how much is not in my control.
Taking it at night; not moving much (computer work doesn’t seem to make it much worse!); remembering the anti-nausea med.

🇬🇧 'Rheumatoid factor (RF) is seen in about half of patients w/ Sjogren's, such as erosions on xray/ MRI. RF is not specific to RA. However, there are other things that support an RA diagnosis. Important to know bc many RA drugs like TNF inhibitors are not effective for Sjogren's'.

I got this stone paper journal at a yard sale. Sketched a plein air watercolor landscape on the blank, front page. I think I'll use the lined section for daily arthritis tracking and put a sketch on each page. That will get two things done. Tracking and a daily sketch.

Update: still having my RA flare, although it seems to be moving around to different parts of my body now rather than Everything Everywhere All At Once (a fantastic movie but I don't want to be living it in my joints), so I'm cautiously optimistic that means maybe I'm on the upswing?

I just picked up ~85 rocks, loaded them into a wheelbarrow, and picked them up again to place them on the black plastic on the garden. For me, living with #RheumatoidArthritis, this was a great workout! And now I’m going to rake flat the soil I rototilled on Thursday.

Having another flare up. Any #rheumatoidarthritis folks on here? I may have to get on a second drug other than the methotrexate. Naproxen takes care of it but don’t want to take that every day. I feel like my body has let me down. Again. This all started during the rains and then after eating sugar. Gave up the latter.😓
Back on methotrexate starting today. Last time I was on it I was totally convinced the side effects would be unbearable. I mean, I'm taking a (very low dose of a) chemotherapy drug and that feels really serious.
In hindsight, I'm pretty sure my anxiety about possibly feeling crappy was more of the issue than my actual feeling crappy. So, different attitude (we'll see what happens!) might give me a different experience?

Had my infusion today and I always say I don't need the Zyrtec & Tylenol bc it doesn't really cause me any symptoms. Well, today I'm having symptoms. UGH. (Feels like I've got a fever (haven't checked) and a cold which is normal for the day of infusion.) Going to allow myself a moment to whine. Recently diagnosed with #rheumatoidarthritis and while I wait to get into a rheumatologist so I can hopefully try to get on something control this, it is so frustrating to be in a lot of pain and people just not understanding it. Yeah, my hands don’t look all twisted. Yeah, I don’t look as bad as that person with OA and a trigger finger. But ya know what, I’m exhausted, I feel sick, and I’m in pain, but I look good. Stop comparing me to others.
Things that aren’t stupid if they work: mounting a power board on the wall next to my spot on the couch so I have easy access to power for charger cables and my heated blanket when I’m stuck here for extended periods of time.

I’ve been doing some deep work and therapy, and I am in one of the worst flares I can remember. I’m wondering if those two things are related.

that said, despite a lifetime working in the visual arts, now i am seriously disabled by illness and have among other things damage to my visual cortex and much diminished hand/eye coordination.
but i like to take photos with my phone sometimes just for fun. no idea what they look like to a 'normal' brain but they all are just snips of my life here. :)

On the second to last day of my 5 days of low-dose prednisone for #RheumatoidArthritis and its #ChronicPain and I'm already feeling so much worse. Today I feel like I'm getting the flu and I'm having trouble thinking, again. It's emotionally draining, so very very disheartening, to have my "normal" be so physically miserable.
Soon my rheumatologist will give me a new medication to try, since the two I'm on now aren't working well enough.
I'm exhausted. #NEISVoid

You just don’t know who has a chronic illness and may be struggling.
We don’t always announce it or talk about it a lot. I’m always thankful to those who do bring awareness. It’s important people speak out and educate others.
We don’t choose this for ourselves. We simply do the best we can with what we’ve been given.
Today I feel a noticeable lessening of the usual 6-8/10 pain I live with bc of #RheumatoidArthritis and #IBS. I'm at the point in one of my new meds that I might see improvement in the RA. I've also started a 2nd new med that titrates (does that mean what I think it does?) faster. My overall pain is still a 4-5 and there are places that are worse. But, noticeably better. I'm feeling a flickering of hope?
Oh. And also. I went to bed a lot earlier than I usually do. Perhaps sleep helps. :-/
I haven't found my #disability community here yet. I'm kind of pondering using different accounts in different places to compartmentalize my life a little, but that often feels wrong to me.
