#RoadTrip Tag 33 (cont2): Nicht zu übersehen waren hingegen die Murmeltiere, die fast posierend auf den Felsen lagen und sich auch von Touristen nicht wirklich stören ließen. Ein gutes Teleobjektiv war aber trotzdem nicht verkehrt, wenn man brav auf den Wegen bleiben wollte.
#RoadTrip Tag 33 (cont): Entlang der Trail Ridge Road standen heute nochmal diverse Tiere Spalier. Die Big Horns sahen etwas gerupft aus, man wirft Anfang Juni dann wohl doch langsam das Winterfell ab. Und während sich die Massen den Schafen gewidmet haben, habe ich zwischen den Steinen sogar ein Pika entdeckt.
#RoadTrip Tag33: Ein neuer Versuch auf der Trail Ridge Road, heute mit bestem Wetter. Am Straßenrand stand noch eine der Schneefräsen, nur mal so als Größenvergleich mit unserem (knapp 5m) SUV. Das mit dem „Stay on trails" war aber immer noch so eine Sache. Es war immer noch genug Schnee da, entweder in fester Form oder halt als Tauwasserfluss auf dem Weg.
#RoadTrip Tag 32: Bei deutlich verbessertem Wetter machten wir uns heute auf zum Trailhead am Bear Lake (damals ging das noch so, heute braucht man auch hier ein Permit), um von dort aus zu Dream Lake und Emerald Lake zu wandern. Man sah vor Schnee selten den Weg, aber es war doch so voll, dass man einfach nur den Menschen oder ihren Spuren folgen musste. Abends schlenderten wir dann noch etwas durchs Städtchen und es gab einen echten Elch-Burger. Sehr lecker.

Took a little road trip into the desert last week. I love parts of the desert and would live there if it wasn't so hot. I love the Sanora Desert with it's Saguaro Cactus and they were blooming. The bird is a Thresher. Well done Arizona!

#RoadTrip Tag 31: Erstmal etwas im Rocky Mountain NP orientieren. Das Wetter war eher durchwachsen und unser erster Versuch, die gerade ein paar Tage geöffnete Trail Ridge Road zu fahren, endete in einem formidablen Schneeschauer auf über 3500m Höhe. Und auch wenn ich den Park schon extra ans Ende der Tour gelegt hatte, war auch so noch Schnee in ausreichender Menge vorhanden und viele Wanderwege noch nicht begehbar. Aber dem Elch schmeckt es.

#RoadTrip Tag 30: Weiter geht's, heute von Colorado City nach Estes Park, dem leider letzten Stopp des Urlaubs. Unterwegs noch kurz den höchsten Punkt der Tour mitgenommen: Pikes Peak. Auf 4302m geht nicht nur dem Sechszylinder etwas die Puste aus, sondern auch uns. Einmal um den Gipfel geschlichen und man weiß, dass die kleinen Sauerstoffflaschen im Souvenirshop mehr als nur Deko sind. Auf dem Weg runter dann obligatorische Bremstemperaturmessung: Wer zu doof für Motorbremse ist, muss warten.

Now that I'm on a #roadtrip, my anxiety levels skyrocket about every 15 minutes while I try to guess where a precious personal item is hiding! I don't think I've truly lost anything yet but I'm in a constant panic about the potential.
I love the colours in this pic, which I took just along from the Coruisk Memorial Hut on Skye. With the eye of faith, you can just about make out dots around the edge of Eilean Glas, a tiny, rocky island in Loch na Cuilce, near the mighty Cuillins. Each is a basking seal. A lovely calm place to be.

#RoadTrip Tag 29: Wieder knapp 500km on the road. Erst über den Wolf Creek Pass, bekannt als Teil der Race Across America Strecke. Ich träume ja immer mal wieder davon, da mal mitzufahren, aber dafür wird mein Fitnesslevel wohl nie ausreichen. Geht übrigens demnächst wieder los (www.raamrace.org). Highliight Sightseeing Stop des Tages war der Great Sand Dunes NP, auch wenn es brechend voll war (kein Witz, hätte ich mich 180° gedreht, würden Sie Beach Party auf den Fotos sehen).

Diamond Harbour on Banks Peninsula in #Canterbury seemed to lack a focal point & local amenities—aside from a small wharf (📷1). A splash of colour in adjacent Purua Bay (📷2). A pleasant surprise in Orton Bradley Park, a 653 hectare farm & forest with lots of trails. The smoke was so bad that I didn’t dare camp in #Alberta. #Montana had our smoke last week but the winds have shifted and I’m surrounded by blessedly blue skies. Still, this #ClimateEmergency means that folks everywhere are facing potential disaster.

New Brighton Pier brings fishing fans closer to the nutrient-rich currents within #Christchurch’s Pegasus Bay (📷1). It was also a good vantage point for watching surfers watching for waves (📷2).
