Various Artists - “The Melting Plot” (1988)
I loved this comp when it came out because it has so many good songs from bands that were new to me at the time.
Bands like Celebrity Skin that didn’t put out a lot of albums. They were so fun to see live.
The only downside of this comp is the sound quality. Low volume and muddy. Playing on air required dialing up the pot all the way.
But for years, I think until 2016, this was the only album to include the L7 covering the song, “Yummy Yummy” 😋 👇

Boss Hog release their first full-length album, “Cold Hands”
Formed in 1989 as a Jon Spencer / Pussy Galore side project, Boss Hog would start to make albums soon after their first fortuitous performance at CBGB’s.
All the hipster dudes in my social circle were absolutely in love with frontwoman Cristina Martinez (she was a sex symbol who would often perform naked). It was a little annoying.
The music is a unique brand of punk blues, not unlike PG or Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Their videos were really cool too.

Scott Goddard - “Cowpunk” (1984)
A wonderfully silly parody of the then-popular L.A. “cowpunk” scene
"Cowpunk" was Goddard’s only real “hit”, although I think it was pretty much limited to SoCal, as the song got regular airplay on LA’s new music station KROQ.
Goddard was a member of the Surf Punks. He released two solo albums. “Your Fool” in 1984, and “Eleventy Billion” in 1986. Link below is from a posthumous CD release.
He also collaborated with punk band The Dickies, writing several songs including the classic “Manny, Moe, and Jack”, which he covers on his first album, the power pop heavy "Your Fool"
