#rollup
Today, the PE sector loves a #rollup, which is when they buy several related businesses and merge them into one firm. The nominal business-case for a rollup is that the new, bigger firm is more "efficient." In reality, a rollup's strength is in eliminating competition. When all the pet groomers, or funeral homes, or urgent care clinics for ten miles share the same owner, they can raise prices, lower wages, and fuck over suppliers.

You know those ads from companies like #Bluetriton (formerly "#NestleWaters") that promise that your single-use plastic bottles are "100% recyclable...and can be used for new bottles and all sorts of new, reusable things?"
Bluetriton is a #PrivateEquity-backed #rollup that has absorbed most of the bottled water companies you're familiar with, including #PolandSpring, #PureLife, #Splash, #Ozarka, and #Arrowhead.

Hey front-end dev 👩🚀!
Would you recommend using vite/rollup as opposed to vue-cli/webpack 5 for an app that is largely used by older mobile phone browsers? The documentation for supporting older browsers is clear but very short and almost seems like it’s not an expected use case.

Apparently rollup + sucrase + terser is a good combo for bundling libs with a lot of chunks. Caveat is sucrase doesn't inline `const enum`.
I should switch my build pipeline from #esbuild to #rollup++ when running on CI. Better to refactor my code to use `constant/*.ts` with a lot of `const` variables rather than using `const enum` everywhere.
I wish #deno has a lint rule to disallow `const enum` 😔

Web packaging technology is torture.
The last week, I've been fighting webpack, parcel, #rollup, babel and bili, just because vue stopped supporting #browserify and I had to figure what to use as a replacement in #beast.
^^^ If that sentence sounds like it has too many web tech buzzwords, that's *exactly* the problem.
And it's only a fraction of packages I had to deal with...
Most packages have documentation, but only provide tiny puzzles of a much bigger picture that is revealed nowhere...
Finished migrating #PfP from #Webpack to #Rollup. The generated code got much more readable (yes, I don't minimize it on purpose). It's also way easier to debug without IIFE, all global variables stay global. https://github.com/palant/pfp/commit/1a89e8ed8019f342bfc61dd261f58338977b4cbe
