Productive day today! Finished my playthrough of #DragonQuest 2 and smashed out 3000 words for its upcoming YouTube video review.

It was my first time playing Dragon Quest 2 and honestly? I had a great time. I totally see why it tends to rank a little on the weaker side in Top 10 lists, but a 'bad' Dragon Quest game is still a great video game. Looking forward to going much further in depth in my review.

Does anyone think about the old #Ultima games anymore? There used to be no game series bigger, now, other than #UltimaOnline (itself a relic), they're completely abandoned. Gone. Vanished. Richard Garriott is still around, seemingly chasing game fads. I've been meaning to write about a section of the linked video for a while now.

Starting at 27:27, Yoshi-P, producer/director of Final Fantasy XVI, talks about how much Japanese game developers have suffered, or are still suffering, from the term JPRG.

Much like the interviewer (Ralph aka SkillUp), I didn't realize this. I too thought it was a genre, but I now recognize the corset that the term brings.

Citizen Sleeper is an RPG.

It's just unlike other RPGs I've played, and I don't know whether that's because of a lack of experience on my part, or whether Citizen Sleeper is just unique.

You are synth who's gone rogue from the corporation that apparently now owns the human body you signed over to them. A consciousness bound to a synthetic body.

Having stowed away on a ship, you now find yourself on a space station where you need to try and stay alive, as without regular chems from the corporation, your synthetic body will reject your bio-organic components.

There's no third person or first person views here. The station is a scrollable map, where you can interact with various locations, and each day you get a literal "roll of the dice", up to six dice you can spend on different things to try and survive and build a life.

I might even stream it for a while later today, if I can get my streaming setup running properly, because Citizen Sleeper is:

I love that in #rpg 's you are tasked with saving the world, but - you know - you can spend a few days gathering wolf pelts to give to the local tanner to collect that 100th side quest reward. The world will wait. #rpg #jrpg

I can literally pay any #game I can imagine and here I am playing some match-3 + rpg game because it's low stakes and doesn't require me to manage 100 resources. Anyone know of more games like that? Casual RPG's with easy gameplay?

Biomutant is a post-apocalyptic RPG, where you take the role of a mutant... raccoon?

You have a gun, and a buster sword, and some wicked cool moves that you can break out on enemies.

The game is narrated, and the narrator sounds just like one of those British cartoons that also have a narrator.

Honestly, I don't feel like I'm making a lot of sense at this point. Not a bad game so far, was worth getting in this month's Humble Bundle.

I just started "Gargoyle's Quest 2" for the #NES which is a prequel to a #Gameboy game which itself was a spin-off of Ghoul's 'N Goblins.

No way my parents would have let me play a "role playing game" where I was a demon, but what a creative concept for an #RPG!

There's another one for the #SNES too when I'm done with this one. I wonder which one I should play first.

I always sucked at GnG but Firebrand controls a lot like Knuckles so I like the platforming.
