Jusqu'à présent je consultais mon instance FreshRSS via le web. Je me suis décidé à installer une appli Android.
Après quelques essais, celle qui me convient le mieux est Readrops.
Simple, pratique, efficace, moderne, pas d'espace gaspillé à l'écran.
J'ai juste un bricolage maison dans Automate pour déclencher la mise à jour des flux (je ne voulais pas l'automatiser côté serveur).
Vraiment sympa à utiliser, cette appli.

I just question the value of most "Newsletters" unless they are security notifications...
Just make a newspost and mail customers the link to it.
Saves traffic and bandwith.

I don’t remember why I stopped using #RSS, but I was really missing out.
We *can* have benefits without the harms. We just have to stop thinking about labor and privacy issues as individual matters and treat them as the collective endeavors they really are:

Monthly reminder to use #RSS. I prefer #Miniflux with #Lire for screen reader #a11y reasons, but there are lots of other services and apps out there that can do the same thing.

With their own communities of naive readers ( with different biases) and experimental broken language of #msn rooms (or sth) became a public expression, which was taking over the general influence of the serious literature with lit elite following which dominated the majority expression tapped in closed rooms , which had no public media of expression or voice. Since then anti elite wave has been a major theme of #art amd discourses in #economy to the point of becoming a serious political force , which ks hard tl ignore by now. Cornered elite continues to push back with the abuse of #privacy , which is primarily what drove this "innovation" and big money . As bubble of enterprise #it #web burst in 1999 [1] and it needed a new consumer\ user base to feed on. Now #infosec is a buzzword. I got serious about it when it became a medium of serious open academic lit with the advent of #quora 2011 or so . As i was never a coding \workforce \academic elite , which in india was a social capital and mainstream #news was useless and has been so .

Things I like about the #RSS reader #Feedly:
- A button for posting articles directly to Mastodon (which I do a lot)
- The AI tracking feature, which serves full articles on topics of your choosing
- The Today feature that cycles through the most recent articles from each of your folders
- The mute filters for hiding topics you don't care to see
Remember #rss Sadly, it is presumed dead. Beyond a core group of enthusiasts, there is little usage of RSS or Atom feeds nowadays.
☠️ Why did it die?
Social Media came along and took over our daily feeds.
There was no RSS reader bundled up (#firefox removed support years ago).
Some claim it was #google shutting Google Reader that dealt a final blow.
Despite that, We added RSS support to the Wide Angle Analytics blog. The irony is that it costs us nothing. Enjoy!
I really want to subscribe to your #blog. Even if you only post once a month or once a quarter.
But if there’s no link to an #RSS feed I’ll at best try /rss and /feed.
Maybe if there’s a mention that you use Hugo I might remember your SSG is drunk, angry and confused and put the feed at index.xml.
But what I won’t do is save a read later item, open it on my desktop, inspect the source code and hunt down the URL. I most likely just read something else.

#Gannett appears to have disabled #RSS feeds for all of its #newspaper websites a few weeks ago. Seems like a large and unnecessary loss in accessibility of the local news they still offer. (Only found one other reddit thread noting it, so felt like I should mention it here.)

There's a lot to like about it - speed, simplicity and mobile-friendliness.
There's a download button on feeds where they don't publish the full content, but only give a preview. You can also make downloading content the default in the feed's settings.

@schizanon #rss is kind of pointless. It’s a human readable format, but it’s not really read by humans. I’m considering working on a binary format for content syndication.
By the way, mastodon rss does not wrap the content in CDATA. Instead it encodes the #html entities, just like Astro did to me

For example if you want to follow the hashtag #dogs on mstdn.social you would add this address to your RSS feed reader:

I was just perusing the #Mefi post on #Oglaf and... sometimes I think most of using the internet is about remembering these things exist? And going back to them often enough so that the makers know they're loved, and keep doing them? It's SO EASY to forget great things exist, and it's REALLY COMMON for things to stop existing while you're gone.
The ways the internet has for reminding you of great things are all deficient. #Google? Sucks now, and if you don't remember what to search for you'll never find it anyway! #RSS? Okay if the site has a feed; many don't! People reminding you? EXTREMELY SCATTERSHOT. Social media? Twitter _outright deranks your posts_ if you have the temerity to link to something!

Thanks to our homebrew tap maintainer chenrui, both Gitea and the tea cli have been added to the upstream official homebrew-core repository. This means that you can now install Gitea and the tea cli with a simple brew install gitea or brew install tea without first having to add our tap.
