Okay, major rant right now. Anyone else despise it when #Zoom hosts force you to turn on your #camera? For the past 3 years I’ve never had any issue joining meetings with my camera turned off all until this last week when not one, but two #meetings held by deferent hosts said I couldn’t join if my camera is off. I find this extremely discriminatory cause
1. #Neurodivergent people often don’t feel #comfortable on camera
2. Many people don’t have cameras on their devices, especially on #desktop #PCs where it’s still not a standard feature built into #monitors.
3. The meeting also did not have #endtoend #encryption enabled which to me is too much of a #security risk.
The biggest #kicker is the group didn’t have any issue before with people having their cameras turned off during the meeting but now all the sudden they are not okay with it. Not cool. And just making it very clear, none of the #events I host will ever require a camera. So if you aren’t #comfortable with being on camera in meetings, your #safespace is right here.

A safe space has been opened near the EuroVillage in Liverpool in preparation for Eurovision. The safe space is designed to be calm and will be staffed with people trained by "You're Safe Here". That training gives people the skills to help those who have been victims of crime, feel intimidated or need assistance.

This community has changed how I feel about social media and I just want to thank all of you.
I have always been circumspect as too how much of myself I put out there, but I feel the emotional weight can get in the way of my self expression.
I have been too self censoring for fear of vulnerability, experience has taught me to be afraid.

Women being harassed, body-shamed in sexist & misogynistic ways, bullied/trolled severely for simply sharing their views online or sharing photo of themselves. Systematic harassment directed towards women when they share their stories. Are we okay with it?
Such onslaught of hate is enough to dehumanize women specially who belong to vulnerable, minority & marginalised sections of society, causing her mental health to suffer, damaging her dignity & self respect.
