Happy #WhoopingCraneDay!
Here is “The Hooping Crane” in George Edwards’ A Natural History of Birds Pt. 3, 1750.
Yes, he illustrated it perching on an enlarged side view of its own giant beak. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In case you haven't realized / I haven't said: I'm making 10 full solar systems, which will (hopefully) be for sale via my website in Jul/Aug. 🌏🪐

I might also offer preorders for individual planets if you're just after specific ones.

AND I'm planning to write up a tutorial for a couple of planets for the DIYers amongst you👍 #needlefelting #sciart #scicrafts

Saturn is busting my butt! After many prototypes, I'm now happy with this version, but It's by far the slowest planet to make. Zero chance I'll have these available to sell by the end of June (as I'd hoped). #needlefelting #crafts #sciart #scicrafts #space #saturn

Last time I checked in there, the #SciArt community group was still active. But not seeing a trace of it today.

Maybe it starts with a low-energy feeling, or maybe you’re getting a little cranky. You might have a headache or difficulty concentrating. Your brain is sending you a message: You’re hungry. Find food.

Sound familiar?

Studies in mice have pinpointed a cluster of cells called AgRP neurons near the underside of the brain that may create this unpleasant hungry, even “hangry,” feeling.

It's Monday, so I'm starting new posts for my daily #inkyDays drawings.

Today, I'm playing with a bit of color gradient, starting in the center of these branches. It's very subtle, though.

Here's an in-progress photo

Happy birthday to #neurologist Santiago Ramón y Cajal (1852 - 1934), here in front of Purkinje and granule cells from a pigeon, based on one of his own drawings! Cajal &Golgi won the Nobel in 1906, "in recognition of their work on the structure of the nervous system". He was as much of an artist as he was a scientist & his 100s of drawings are still used for teaching purposes.
