Esta posible huelga se suma, claro, a la de la WGA, el sindicato de guionistas.
Habitualmente identificada con los actores, la Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) de hecho nuclea a todo tipo de "performer" en la industria audiovisual de EEUU; actores, locutores, periodistas, bailarines, DJs, redactores y editores de noticias, presentadores de televisión, titiriteros, músicos, cantantes, dobles de acción, actores de voz y otros.
El liderazgo del sindicato, encabezado por su presidenta Fran Drescher, animó durante las últimas semanas a los miembros a aprobar la posibilidad de huelga para darle a sus negociadoores esa hereramienta frente a los poderosos estudios y streamers.
En común con la WGA, SAG-AFTRA está buscando establecer protecciones contra el uso indiscriminado de inteligencias artificiales y mejorar las tarifas mínimas y los pagos residuales, que aún no se han ajustado al alcance de los sistemas de streaming. Además, buscan fortificar los maltrechos planes de salud y de pensiones para sus socios, entre otros propósitos.
Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, director ejectutivo de SAG-AFTRA, y lider de su equipo de negociaciones, declaró "La autorización para la huelga nos permite entrar a las negociaciones desde una posición de fuerza, para que podamos lograr el acuerdo que nuestros miembros quieren y merecen."

Season 2 of the long-running prison drama series was released on this date in 2014. It was great to see a well-made, well-written series with lots of lesbian or bi women portrayed, a major regular character who is trans and has her own nuanced story lines, and queer characters of color, especially given TV's long history of focusing LGBTQ portrayals disproportionately on white gay men.
If it had debuted a few decades earlier, activists probably would have pilloried it for perpetuating the trope of violent queer women, but by the 2010s there were enough different types of queer characters onscreen that ORANGE did not attract the kind of objections that, for instance, the 1970s-80s women's-prison TV serial PRISONER (aka PRISONER: CELL BLOCK H) had attracted from some lesbian activists at the time.

My pics from the opening of the WILL & GRACE 25th Anniversary Exhibition last night at the Paley Museum in NYC, including costumes, set pieces, a script, photos, video clips, and props. An adjacent room has costumes from more recent Universal Television series with prominent LGBTQ+ regular roles. The exhibition continues throughout June as one of the museum's Pride events.
The highlight was a panel discussion with Debra Messing, Eric McCormack, and series creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, moderated by Isaac Mizrahi. I expect the Paley Center will post the video of that online sometime soon.
It was great seeing what the exhibit designers came up with. I was their historical consultant and had seen all the text in advance, but I had no idea what the exhibit would look like. They did a great job fitting a lot of material into the available space.

I just finished #TheNightEternal - the third book in #TheStrain #book #series. The conclusion to the book series was much better than the #TV version as I've said before, and reading the books has officially killed my desire to watch season 4 of the TV version. If you don't read much but you like #Sifi and #vampire stuff, please do consider purchasing The Strain. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I'm going to bed now, and I hope that I don't wake up at 4:00 PM again, because that sucks.

I've been away of Mastodon for a couple of weeks, and a bit of my blog too. I've done many things last month, but not everything I wanted. Probably too many TV series, and podcasts in April.
I've never watched an entire political thriller #TV #series with a constant grin and intermittent bouts of ecstatic joy before I watched #TheDiplomatOnNetflix.
The Big Door Prize is interesting, but Machine of Death did it better!
So I've finally finished the #Spellslinger series ending with Sebastien De Castell's #CrownBreaker.
It's one of those series I'm really sad to finish but really happy to have read (or listened to). It's definitely a #series. I will revisit. Loved the #characters, the #magical systems and #worldbuilding. Must #read for #fantasy #readers.
Also, Joe Jameson did an excellent job narrating these books.

I didn't get the series High Maintenance at first. I saw three episodes and then stopped. But after a recommendation I gave it another shot, and now it's one of my favorite series of all time.

I watched a couple of #YouTube #videos earlier (rightly) praising the #DisneyPlus #series, #Andor, as the best #StarWars series, and among the best stories of the entire franchise (it's the absolute best, overall, for me).
What surprised me were the statements that the series did badly in terms of viewers. This was backed up by a clip in one of the videos of two #fanboys griping about the lack of (the extremely vomitous term) #FanService.
Okay, that was pretty brilliant and funny. If you have #Netflix I highly recommend checking out "Cunk on Earth". An amazingly funny and British-ly dry History of the World. Highly recommended!

Especially strong in seasons 2 and 3, it included some incredible performances, heartbreaking storylines, and one of the first TV series to have an overarching arc plot. "I just rewatched it for the second time because I was bored to death of all the series that try to go on forever and repeat the same story over and over again coughwalkingdead*cough. Battlestar Galactica creates such intense moments of joy, laughter and sadness, your emotions go all over the place. The story, in my opinion is incredible. Some rather amazing action/cgi for it's time. Connection to characters that you grow to love or hate. And MOST IMPORTANTLY it knows when to end! As much as we all tell ourselves that we want more and more. So many TV series try to keep going and going and just don't fracken know when to end. There's so many TV series that I've loved that just turn into garbage because they try to keep pushing it and doing more and more. Battlestar Galactica(04-09) knew when to end. And it even went out with a bang, but left you with a happy emotional ending. I really wish we could get more of this. I would be surprised if I see another better series, that could fulfill all these features as well as BSG did. I'm quite sick of current shows just trying to keep going for as long as they can make money."
Can only recommend, what a great show!
