Daher gehört das Gerät regelmäßig in die Fachwerkstatt, zum Beispiel in meine #ReparierEcke. Dort werden beim #Service dann auch diese Stellen sichtbar und gereinigt.

Diese Aussage ist zu allgemein. Es gibt schon ein paar feine, auch pflegeleichte Maschinchen. Und für die Sauberkeit ist in der Regel eher der Anwender verantwortlich.
#Kaffeevollautomaten gehören regelmäßig gereinigt und genauso regelmäßig in die Werkstatt für #Service und #Wartung.
Ein #WMF 1000 Pro #Kaffeevollautomat zur Generalüberholung. Allein das Zerlegen ist schon eine Herausforderung.
Noch schlimmer finde ich, dass der Hersteller in Bezug auf Software #Service und #Wartung einer der schlechtesten im #Kaffeemaschinen Bereich ist. Allein für das Zurücksetzen der Servicemeldung muss man auch als @reparierecke viel Geld hinlegen, obwohl ich das in meiner #ReparierEcke locker könnte, hätte ich die Software.
Die #Stärke des #Einzelhandel|s ist ja sein #Service. Zum Beispiel im #Baumarkt. Bei #OBI kann ich gleich im Vorfeld prüfen, ob das gewünschte Produkt in der #Filiale verfügbar ist. Und das ist es auch! In Würzburg! Nur 204km einfache Fahrt mit dem KfZ trennen mich von der anvisierten Paulownia-Leimholzplatte.
(Das Schild der nächstgelegenen Filiale kann ich sogar von meinem Heimbürofenster aus sehen, nützt mir aber auch nix, dort gibt es fast nie das, was ich kaufen möchte. Muss dann immer etliche Kilometer mehr zu #Hornbach einplanen.)
War das leichte und wohl auch weiche #Paulownia-#Holz vor wenigen Jahren noch in aller Munde und vor allem in allen Regalen, so ist es heute eher schwer zu bekommen. Der Baum wird seit einiger Zeit auch in wenigen europäischen Plantagen angepflanzt und wächst sehr schnell.
Zwischen unseren Bücherregalen mit über 1,6 Millionen Titeln kann man sich beim Stöbern schon mal verlieren. Orientierung bieten die Regalbeschriftungen und unsere hilfsbereiten Mitarbeitenden. 🔤/bk #ubosnabrueck #service

CISA warns of critical bugs in Illumina DNA sequencing systems
The U.S. Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency (#CISA) and the #FDA have issued an urgent alert about two #vulnerabilities that impact #Illumina's #Universal #Copy #Service (UCS), used for #DNA #sequencing in medical facilities and labs worldwide.
"An unauthenticated malicious actor could upload and execute code remotely at the operating system level, which could allow an attacker to change settings, configurations, software, or access sensitive data on the affected product," warns a CISA advisory released yesterday.
The first vulnerability is tracked as CVE-2023-1968 (CVSS v3 score: 10.0, “critical”). It allows remote attackers to bind to exposed IP addresses, allowing an unauthenticated attacker to listen in on all network traffic to find further vulnerable hosts on a network.
The second flaw is CVE-2023-1966 (CVSS v3 score: 7.4, “high”), which is a security misconfiguration allowing users of UCS to execute commands with elevated privileges.

Funny is, the laptop I am fixing now has the usual warning for powering off the device and disconnecting the power cord and battery. Or here literally to remove the battery pack. But actually you have to disassamble half of the machine to disconnect the battery. And then the rest of the machine to remove the battery. There is even no option to disable battery in bios. 😀 ⚡🔋

@Techmeme I know this seems — at face value — a good idea, but I think it could set the precedent for a slippery slope: if the big players are going to be asked to contribute to the #infrastructure, what would stop — for example — the #ISPs to start charging for “priority” traffic? A more profitable discussion is to start considering treating the #Internet like a basic #Utility, like #Water, or #Electricity, or #Gas. Then we’d prepared to discuss access as a #right or a #service!

I know it's hard to believe – it's even hard for me to type this out – but Germany switched like a Boolean operator from shit-for service to shining service about 7-8 years ago. I dunno, maybe one of the older generations finally completely died out, like smallpox being expelled from the world's active disease collection.

At a time when communities are being torn apart by forces that erode social cohesion, it helps to think what makes a healthy community. My background leads me to think of #virtues: mutual support and selfless #service to humanity come to mind.
IMO the goal of having tech and community developing in tandem is that the solutions we develop incorporate these virtues.

This fear of #administrative tasks a lot of people on here share is very foreign to me. Indeed, my career is based on administrative tasks.
One thing that lead to meltdowns and really problematic situations at my work is my disgust of non-efficient tasks and not knowing WHY I do something.
Most of my colleagues never asked themselves these questions. It was always 'it was like this before me'. I #challenge #processes. And in #civil #service it's REALLY frowned upon, when you're lower tier.
@andybaio Yes, that was a wild prediction back then. That was 3 days before I opened my first account on a #Mastodon instance, and I remember having similar thoughts. But it's also sort of false comparison, because Twitter is an actual #service, and Mastodon is just #technology. (A specific #software that supports a standardized federation #protocol. At first #OStatus and then later #ActivityPub). And I learned from the book "What Technology wants" (Kevin Kelly, 2011) that technology never dies.
