The dogwoods seem to be in bloom a little early this year. We had a mild winter, and lots of our flowering plants are already taking advantage of the recent warm temperatures to start showing off.

Located to the side of one of the outbuildings on the grounds of Beallair Mansion near Harper's Ferry WV, the dogwood tree seemed to beg me to snap it. The gentle fall of evening and the play of shadow and light all made for a brief, but beautiful vision.

Hi #Inkscape-fans! I finally found a way to do object-#shadows!

Ctrl-D to duplicate the object, make the color a bit darker.

N and select the nodes where the endpoints of your shadow should be.

Shift-B to „Break path at selected nodes“ (🤔)

Ctrl-Shift-K to „Break apart“ (🤷‍♀️)

S and Del to select and delete the part that isn't gonna be shadow.

N to go back to node view, B to draw the inner edge of the shadow.

It's more cumbersome than what I was doing in #AdobeIllustrator but it works!

Hvem skulle have troet at man kan skrive næsten firehundrede informationsmættede sider om skygger…

Jeg er kun et halvt hundrede sider inde i bogen, men har lært noget nyt og overraskende i hvert eneste kapitel.

Bogen må betegnes som en lærebog, og hvert kapitel lægger ud med 2-3 sætninger der opridser hvad kapitlet kommer til at handle om, og slutter med at opsummere hovedpunkterne i det kapitel man lige har læst. Og der er masser af illustrationer undervejs for at anskueliggøre de principper man læser om.

Første sætning: »This book is about the way our visual system reads, understands, and uses shadows.«

Sidste sætning: »Were it not for shadows, there would be no beauty.«

Down the memory lane

Being back for a few moments in Brumleby last autumn brought back good memories from our time in Copenhagen.

I often brought ny youngest son to this playground during our stay and my parental leave.

The photo was taken with my favourite lens, a 7artisans 35mm f0.95 lense, with no processing, so straight from the camera!
