We have two #sheep paddocks and we move our 3 sheep from one to the other most weeks. The deal is we open the gate and call them and they come. There's a bit of a scamper cos they don't like humans, but they know the way and it's fine. Except today the ninnies looked blank at us, wouldn't come, and it started to rain. Okay, they can stay there on the old grass for another week. I'm grumpy and somewhat damp.

I have so many other things I should be doing, but instead I decided to edit some photos. I'm a fiend for procrastination!

Today it's a couple of action shots from a recent sheepdog trial. This trial was a lot of fun. Much smaller than the Nationals, it had a more relaxed atmosphere. The weather was nice and there were some really good dogs both on the field and spectating.

Despite an enjoyable outing, it's still demoralising getting home after a day of photography and realising just how many blurry photos I have. Those dogs (and sheep) just move too fast! Oh well, just an excuse for more practice I suppose...

Statistically speaking, I'm sure to get a sharp photo eventually, even if only by fluke. And what do you know, here are some flukes!

He is looking the other way and slowly walking off to the right of shot. His nonchalant demeanour suggests he has the utmost confidence in the dog's ability to keep the sheep under control; he doesn't even need to watch. The dog on the other hand appears to be working a little harder. With legs at unexpected angles and taking a somewhat awkward posture, the dog appears to be in the midst of an evasive manoeuvre. I can just hear the dog's sarcastic tone now: 'No worries, just wander off then. I'll do all the work myself!'. Although I suspect deep down the dog is enjoying every moment of it.

The dog has his back to the photographer so his facial expression cannot be read, but his stance is best described as 'poised'. The sheep on the other hand are facing the photographer and their expression is probably closer to 'wary'.

My neighbors own a large pyrenees dog. This breed has been used as livestock guard dogs for hundreds of years. However, my neighbors have kept him on a long cable with not much to keep him occupied. He is a very large and intimidating animal. I have been wanting to do something with him for some time, and recently they have given me permission to try and train him with my sheep.

Over the last week I have been slowly introducing him to the sheep and letting the sheep get used to him. Today was the first time I let him off of his leash to freely mingle with the sheep.

I was very happy to watch him sniff each sheep and wag his tail as he got to know them.

Der liegende Torso einer großen Schläferin bildet mit der linken Schulter einen Hügel, auf dem ein Schaf mit seinem Lamm steht. Sie stellt die personifizierte Streuobstwiese dar. Der Kopf der Figur ist zur Hälfte im Erdreich versunken. Ein Bach umfließt sein Profil. Um den Kopf herum liegen Abfallprodukte unserer Zivilisation wie Ölfässer und ausrangierte Gegenstände aus dem Haushalt. Links hinter dem Schulter-Hügel erhebt sich eine Stadt mit ihren dicht gebauten Wohnblocks und Häusern. Rechts vorne schreitet eine weiß verhüllte Figur über einen Blumenteppich aus dem Bild. I did the flora and funga yesterday, so today's it's the #Fauna I photographed on Thursday's #Walk. Some #Linnet, A #BuffTailed #BumbleBee, A #Skylark and, because it's #Cymru, the obligatory #Sheep
