There's not been enough sheep posted recently so here's Brambles and Skippy at the skritching locus (and a bonus Panda in the background to the left).

Skippy is standing over a tree branch such that he can skritch his own tummy by moving back and forth over it. One of his front hooves is raised as he performs this manoeuvre.

That time when you were really hopped up on narcotics and muscle relaxers after surgery and bought a fleece from a shepherd on Facebook...😁

Over the past week I've washed it (100 degree days are great for drying fleece!) and now prepping it to run through my drum carder.

Tried a new method of washing fleece to try to minimize felting and I'm really happy with the results!

This is a Gotland x BFL cross.

A lovely afternoon in the middle field, which feels like a gift from God after so much rain. It's warm but not too hot, sky is blue with fluffy clouds, the sheep are happy (from left to right in the centre of the picture we see Brambles and Skippy, then most of Lucky, his head obscured behind the other two as he is grazing.

Further off to the right, lying down and watching the other three, is Panda.

I'm sitting in the shade but a band of sunlight is visible beyond the sheep, brightening the grass and the trees that border the bottom field.

Not everyone wants to stay in the sun.

Two sheep have retreated to the stables for a bit of cool shade. Standing in a doorway we can see about 0.6 of Brambles (the view of the other 0.4 of him being truncated by the edge of the stable door).

Curled up the other side of that door, outside the stable, we can see Panda, mostly in shade, with just his arse poking out into the sunshine.

The roof of the stables is green with grass and moss. With all the rain we've had there has been TURBO FECUNDITY everywhere.

The three chaps all looking and listening towards the ongoing TREEPOCALYPSE. Panda is in the stable doorway furthest to the left. To the right of him in the next stable doorway stands Brambles, his flappers aimed and extended to better hear the unusual noises. I haven't posted a picture of any sheep for a moment, I'm slacking! So to put things right here's the three boisterous boys just now.

It's the three chaps standing in the middle field, which is finally starting to look lovely and green and lush as the grass recommences growing. Soo, it'll be like walking around knee deep in chips for the boys, food everywhere just lying on the ground. They'll still be importuning for biscuits though, you can guarantee that, and they'll get them too because we're soft as shite about sheep.

From left to right we see Skippy and Brambles, always together, sometimes violently; and to the right of them Panda, who although he's not in constant competition with the other two just yet as he's not quite fully grown, often enjoys joining in just for the fun of it.

All the boys are fluffy. Brambles and Panda in particular are very fluffy indeed.

Giles just brought me tea and cake. Iawn!

The start of every sheep's day

We see a very fluffy sheep arranged vertically, head closest to us, standing on ground consisting of grass and some muddy patches because apparently we haven't had enough rain yet. It's Panda! The grass is in perfect focus but the sheep is a bit blurry because apparently that's how the camera on this Huawei phone prefers it, despite my having taken north of 800 pictures of sheep on this phone. No evidence of any AI there then.

I am holding a Digestive biscuit in my hand, which holds one side of the disc. The other side of the disc is in Panda's mouth. This is the sacred morning ritual to which all sheep are entitled. When I am King I will decree that every sheep in the land receives this morning benediction.

Sheep are super affectionate once they know you. If they know you are a friend, and you go and sit in the field on a sunny day (miracle!) then this will likely be your view.

A bit of mostly blue sky is visible at the top, but the view is mostly an extreme closeup of a sheep's head - it's Brambles! He is pressing close for his cuddles.

It's Brambles! This was a few days ago, as you can see it's not raining, and that's only happened a couple of times in the last month or so. He's a fluffy boy and he's looking directly at us. His large flappers are deployed symmetrically either side of his head. They look magnificent, slightly pink on the insides.
