Simplifying requires effort. When I coached youth baseball I taught middle infielders how to turn double plays quickly. The fielder learned the "dart" throw, a toss that placed the ball on the other player's shoulder. The other player learned to catch the ball by trapping it against the palm of their glove, so they could grip it and make a fast throw to first. Creating the most efficient play possible took a lot of hard work. Throw-Trap-Throw.

A robin…plain and simple.
A lot of my photos have quite a lot going on in the background but this robin I photographed last year had the backdrop of a white, overcast sky.
The contrast of that backdrop with the branch and colourful robin instantly draw the eye and this simplicity makes the photo for me.
If I was to process the image again (which I may do one day) I’d probably crop the image differently but that’s the beauty of photography. We learn and adapt as we decide on our preferences and desired ‘styles’.

Oh, the simple pleasures of nature. Walking a trail surrounded with the lightly colored Broomsedge grasses, I spotted this dark branch with the twists and curls. I don't know what plant it was from but the dark color of the spiraling branch made a statement to me when surrounded by all the light colored, tall grasses.

@virtuosew This actually very nice in it's simplicity and primitiveness. The vagueness and bright color choice for the town nestled in the mountains give the piece an atmospheric effect. Combined with what I choose to see as early morning sky colors, it feels like fog clinging to the ground and walls. That said, it does need something more, perhaps bright or dark contrast in the right side mountains. You are on to something. Take care not to overwork it, keep to the simplicity. Reminds me a little of Japanese watercolor technique or sumi.
