Ended up using the internal mic to record the vocals for Sting's Fragile earlier ... wondering if it's pointless to record with anything other than a decent mic and this is the result ... must admit I'm quite happy with that. Lot more noise and reverb than with an external mic which is a bit tricky to remove (for me) I'm just a Garageband user be gentle! :o #cover #singing #song Will try recording with my proper mic if I can in the office in the morning and see what kinda difference it makes

I have a made-up song I sing to babies/cats. I want to accompany myself on #guitar, but I have no idea what to play.
What's a better method?
1. Work out the melody (via piano, say) and then use some #music theory to identify key and some chords to play.
2. Just strum some things while #singing and see what works.
I feel like 2 will get me more immediate results but 1 would payoff more in the long run.

I signed up for this Zoom class on keeping a beautiful #singing voice as you age. I've taken in-person lessons from this teacher (pre-pandemic) and she is FABULOUS. She can rehabilitate many damaged voices. One of many early revelations I had while learning from her was "My voice...won't?... have to develop a quaver as I age?" "NO, you don't!" she said. I was born in the 70s but raised in the 23rd century. My first computer was a Commodore 64 and the first code I ever wrote was on a VAX terminal. I've wanted to be a Jedi my entire life. I was more influenced by Kung Fu: The Legend Continues than I want to admit.
I'm from the north but have been stranded in Texas since the pandemic began. Prior to that my wife and I lived on my boat, and before that I was a truck driver. I haven't been in one place this long since I was a teenager and I hate it. Traveling for the sake of traveling is my favorite thing and I miss it fiercely.
Fictional characters I identify with the most include Snufkin, Worf, Kevin Flynn, Laszlo Cravensworth, Brad Boimler, and Jubal Harshaw. My favorite party role is tank, my favorite classes to play are paladins, bards, and mystics, my favorite Trek series is DS9 but the one I've come back to the most is Lower Decks. I love Klingons and the Borg and the Wookiees.
My favorite foods are pizza, picadillo tacos, and dall over naan. My favorite genres of music are post-grunge, Celtic traditional, and anything electronic. Regarding print or visual media, I tend to prefer speculative fiction but usually end up watching what my wife suggests. Or the Simpsons.
It is my hope to one day establish a solarpunk monastery, and I'd also like to write a book, build a submarine, and get my helicopter pilot's license.

(Yet 🙄) another of my little observations about the music I hear on #radiofreefedi ... It's so nice to hear all these singing voices that are their own, without the 'expected' and contrived stylings designed to hit targeted markets with *product*.
Genuine lyrics make a big difference to me too, in fact (as a wizened old goat) I find 'heartfelt' vocalising of a lyric that could be my groceries shopping list... unbearable. #singing #lyrics

This week the most listened to track on my al bum “No Laments for Pale Sunsets” seems to have been what I consider the worst track on there, it’s my least favourite, the one I don’t like, and incidentally the one I spent most time turning into an almost totally different track from it’s origins and still didn’t like the result all that much but as I’d spent so much time on it, it went into the album anyway
