SO excited- I got my very first set of watercolors! And good paper to practice on.
I have several colors of waterproof ink for my flex #fountainpens , so I can begin pen drawing little sketches of simple things, with watercolor washes. (maybe a radish, a pepper?)
It's years since I've drawn for FUN (rather than technical drawing on computer for a living).
I'm a little scared to start, but also looking forward to the learning process.

I've bought quite a bit of #fountainpen paraphernalia and today I cleared off the top of my office bookcase so i could neatly organize my pens, ink bottles, and journals.
I have watercolors, brushes, and sketchbooks coming later this week, which i'll keep in the shelves behind the doors.
It was nice to make a special space for my 'penware' so that simply passing by and seeing them is both enjoyable and tempting.

We've had a busy week at home filled with gardening and maintenance jobs. We're still collecting produce from our long neglected #potager, trugs full of grapes, tomatoes, figs and hazelnuts, with occasional courgettes, raspberries and beetroots still appearing. I've also been doing some sketching with pencils and some local #trailrunning routes. We cycled several lovely countryside loops. We also had a visit to a local lido in Chãlus for a 1k outdoor swim.

Here are my drawings from the sketchcrawl we did this morning in the campus arboretum. The sketch of the building shows the rear corner of the just opened Gorman Museum of Native American Art. The sunflower was growing by the side of the road running past the arboretum and the museum.
Fall is here and leaves are turning. A sketch of a sugar maple in my cousin’s yard.

Verdict so far: Winsor & Newton .3 microns is awesome; Pentel Asrts Hybrid Technica@.3 microns is scratchy AF. #ArtSupplies Also 60# Fabriano paper is too thin to really enjoy working on.

The "piment d'Espelette" is a famous product of the area.
It tastes wonderful. You sprinkle a bit of it over your cooked dish or add it in the last minute of cooking. It develops a warm and rich spiceness from your dish's temperature.
This is a sketch for a coming watercolour version. HOT stuff 🌶️

I was messing around with dip pens. When I was a teen, I got one of those Speedball sets and I used it quite a bit. I've pulled out the nibs only a handful of times in my life. The convenience of markers pens is too nice to fool with dipping ink. But this smooth paper takes those nibs like a champ. And of course the blacks will remain black while felt tips will fade even when you erase over them. But I kinda like the character of a fade, so...

This has been the closest I've been to my mourning doves! They have always hung around the powerline near the backyard, but lately, they have been making their presence known thanks to the new bird feeder I've placed in the front yard. I love the iridescent pop of soft pink on the males. Had to make a quick sketch, but will probably make another piece soon.

I went out this morning into the blistering heat for an hour's #sketching trip. We went to a field south of Church Hanborough, #Oxfordshire, under threat from annihilation by in PV panels. It's just one of 100s of fields in an arc of land 11 miles long and 3.4 miles wide west of Oxford which would make up the "Botley West Solar Farm" (read "Blenheim Estates Power Station").
We sat in the shade of an oak to sketche the view while it still exists.

Last night’s tv scribblings. Trying out variations on what could be a dragon head. The first is more regular dragon with a bit of flowing mane, goatee, and a wee horn. Second is a feline-reptilian mix. Last asks the question can a dragon have a turtle-ish head. #sketching #drawing

I painted a lot of loose floral paintings this summer in an approach I call „loose but precise“.
I put that concept into a video class in case anyone’s interested - it’s now out.
For me, this is a beautiful addition to detailed botanical sketches and it’s been a lot of fun to create these flowing watercolor washes.
I’m sure you’ve encountered many posts about which tool is best for wireframing. Yet, one of UX designers’ most important and basic tool is sketching. If you know how to convey your ideas and concepts through sketches, the rest follows. #Sketching #UX

I'm 68 and happily retired after 40 years in the NHS as a Healthcare Scientist and ending my career as a Patient Safety Manager. I now volunteer on the canal system.
I've been a lifetime cyclist : touring & audax (I'm too unfit for sport)
I have lived in Leicestershire with my wife for many years. We have two grown up children - our daughter has severe mental health issues. I also suffer with depression & anxiety.
I"m a Radio Ham, I sketch & draw (for my own pleasure ). I collect and use old film cameras.
I've been learning to play Petanque (and really enjoying it). We've got two allotment plots.
I earned a Humanities degree (French & Art History ) about 15 years ago.
