Agreed 100%. I see myself as a Social Democrat, a person happy to live in a #Capitalist market, but one which has #Socialist welfare safeguards.
I think this gives us the best of both worlds.

I'll add to the toot above, that, there is no being an #environmentalist without simultaneously being a #socialist (give it a name -- other than capitalist or libertarian). We are all tangled in an ideologic #war over the future shape of our planet. It is the favored #elite capitalist class vs. every other living thing on the planet. It cannot be escaped. Like all war, it will find you, or your children sooner or later. Which side are you on?
If you want to join the fight, an easy way to begin is to begin networking among those who make it their business to fight in the war every day.

@MrGR Ja, das stimmt, man bräuchte nicht diese Hashtags für die Nachricht. Uns ist aber wichtig, dass #Esperanto auch mal in #queer bubbles oder #lgbtiq bubbles aufscheint. Genauso in #socialist und #anarchist bubbles. Oder auch einfach in deutsprachigen #lang_de bubbles.
Einfach damit Jemensch mal darüber stolpert, vielleicht leben davon Leute in #Wien und wären geneigt die Sprache zu lernen und zu einem unserer Treffen zu kommen, wo wir diese Sprache praktizieren.
Genauso sind unsere Treffen offen für Leute links von der Mitte. Also hier liegt ein kleines Missverständnis vor, was verständlich ist, weil sonst diese Hashtags bei Inhalten dran hängen, die explizit einem Inhalt angehören. Und daran könnte man auch ein bisschen ein Ziel von Esperanto sehen: Solidarische internationale Bildung von Gemeinschaften von Menschen mit unterschiedlicher Herkunft.
Und zum Unverständnis: Nicht abhalten lassen, sollten genug Leute die Sprache lernen und nutzen, dann gäbe es einen Nutzen. Wie wenn wir alle solidarisch miteinander wären, dann ginge es jeden von uns besser. Aber irgendwer muss damit anfangen.
Oder beim Geld, irgendwer muss damit anfangen zu glauben, dass der Wert auf dem Geldschein auch einen Wert hat. Oder irgendwer muss mal eine Religion prägen und predigen und nur wenn genug Leute diese dann glauben, dann existiert diese erst.

I recently read "The Revolutionary Science of Marxism-Leninism" by J. Sykes, published by #FRSO (Freedom Road Socialist Organization) and I found it to be an excellent entry-level text to #ScientificSocialism. It's very approachable and easy to read for any leftist and, I believe, is quite persuasive in it's argument for embracing #DialecticalMaterialism and #HistoricalMaterialsm as primary ways by which to understand and change the world. Sykes also describes the #Leninist form, organization, and inner-process of a #communist party and how that can be an effective strategy for seizing and maintaining working-class power (the #DictatorshipOfTheProletariat) as we advance into the #socialist stage of human development. Those are perhaps the most commonly expected and basic topics, but he also delves into the #MarxistTheoryOfKnowledge, #PoliticalEconomy, #Imperialism, the #NationalQuestion involving the oppressed nations within the US, #WomensLiberation, and #QueerLiberation. I think this is a must read for anyone who considers themselves on the #Left and desires a deeper understanding of our world!

"When Chile elected #socialist #SalvadorAllende as president in 1970, U.S. President Richard Nixon originally wanted to block him from taking office, or else mount a #coup soon after Allende became president. On Nixon’s orders, the #CIA began supporting different Chilean groups plotting to overthrow the new socialist president. In 1973, military leader #AugustoPinochet staged a coup that ousted Allende. Pinochet assumed his #dictatorship the following year, ruling as Chile’s president until 1990.

Recently paid a friend a visit. She had to be warded at the public #hospital for cancer treatments. Guess how much she had to pay for a night?
RM3. That's about 60 cents in US$. It was a very basic, shared space. But she is receiving treatment because her insurance will not cover the treatments. I am ever so grateful for universal #healthcare in #Malaysia.

The closest the far left have come is Foot in the early 80s, & #Corbyn between 2015-2020.

My political progression (a true story)
My first awareness of politics was a rally for Jimmy Carter in 1976 that my grandmother brought me to. I was too young to vote, but I liked Carter. He seemed genuine and down to earth.
When I was old enough to vote, I considered myself a #Utopian #Socialist, and had faith in humanity for a brief period.
After reality and cynicism kicked in, I voted #Green, #Socialist, #Independent -- anyone but the #Duopoly. I did that most of my life.
Then, #BernieSanders came onto the scene. A #DemocraticSocialist who shared my values and who had a chance to win -- before he was sabotaged by the DNC (and who could have won against Trump -- sorry, but it's true. In a debate, Bernie would have kicked T's ass. And Bernie did have populist appeal, just like the orange one).
Despite all that, I did vote for Biden in 2020 -- because I saw what #Fascism looked like under the orange one and his corrupt SCOTUS appointment. And yeah, I'll more than likely "hold my nose and vote for Joe" or Kamala -- because I hate fascists more than I hate inept and corrupt Dems. I won't tell others how to vote. But I thought I'd share how I've voted (and will vote).
